  • Patent number: 11487254
Abstract: Systems and methods for utilizing a spatial statistical model to maximize efficacy in performing trials on agronomic fields are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a system receives first yield data for a first portion of an agronomic field, the first portion of the agronomic field having received a first treatment, and second yield data, for a second portion of the agronomic field, the second portion of the agronomic field having received a second treatment that is different than the first treatment. The system uses a spatial statistical model and the first yield data to compute a yield value for the second portion of the agronomic field, the yield value indicating an agronomic yield for the second portion of the agronomic field if the second portion of the agronomic field had received the first treatment instead of the second treatment. Based on the computed yield value and the second yield data, the system selects the second treatment.

  • Patent number: 9936627
Abstract: A seed metering system, for use on a row crop planter, selects individual seeds from a seed reservoir and dispenses the seeds singularly at a controlled rate. A direct drive seed metering system includes a seed disc having a plurality of suction apertures with a recessed pocket adjacent to an aperture. The recessed pockets act to agitate seeds in the seed reservoir and to direct seed flow towards the apertures. A seed path relief system provides for allowing the placement of the seeds such that they are released from an outer edge of the seed disc. An adjustable seed singulator is mounted adjacent to the face of the seed disc where inner and outer blades are adjusted radially to compensate for the singulation of various seed sizes and shapes. The seed disc is driven via engagement of an internal gear with the external gear of an independent drive motor.

Abstract: A process and system for growing produce decouples farming from the unpredictability of the external environment by moving the farm into a highly-controlled enclosed environment in which all variables are optimized to grow produce of exceptional quality in a consistent, predictable manner, while minimizing or eliminating deleterious environmental impacts. A filtered, positive-pressure environment greatly reduces particulate contamination and pest infiltration from the outside. Seedlings are planted in containers of an organic soil mix engineered to deliver optimal amounts of water, nutrients, fiber and organic matter. The containers advance along a production line, in the process being given controlled exposure to light of predetermined intensity and wavelength, optimized to produce a desired growth pattern. Water is given at regular intervals in amounts calculated to produce optimal growth without waste.

Abstract: The invention is directed to improving a plants ability to acquire soil resources. Plants that develop a greater amount of aerenchyma will have an improved ability to acquire soil resources and will have greater drought tolerances. Such plants will grow faster and larger than plants that have less aerenchyma. Farmers who plant crops with seeds that will grow into plants have more aerenchyma will be able to reduce the amount of fertilizer used in growing a crop. Accordingly, the invention relates to identifying and breeding a plant with a greater amount of aerenchyma. The identified plant and its progeny will have an improved ability to capture soil resources and will be tolerant to drought.
