Abstract: A nurse receiver header for an agricultural planting implement is cooperable with a nurse mechanism that conveys seeds entrained in an air stream from a central hopper. A receiver is positioned at the planting mechanism to receive the seeds entrained in the air stream and accumulate a supply of seeds for utilization by the associated planting mechanism. The receiver header includes a plurality of legs and a rotatable baffle positioned internally at an uppermost position of at least one leg of the receiver header. The baffle is pivoted by an external lever that is positioned in the same orientation as the baffle to indicate the position of the baffle. The header can be placed in a closed configuration by positioning the baffle across the leg to be blocked. When in an open configuration, the baffle is positioned parallel to the leg and all of the legs of the header are open.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a uniformly spreadable granular agricultural chemical formulation and to establish a method of scattering (applying) the formulation under the assumption that the spreadability of the agrochemically active ingredient is satisfactory so that the expected treatment effect of the agricultural chemicals can be obtained by local application even when algae are drifted by the wind and cover the surface of the water of the paddy field. A uniformly spreadable granular agricultural chemicals formulation which contains an agrochemically active ingredient, has a particle-size distribution such that 80% or more of the granules have a particle diameter of 3 mm or more, and has floatability on the water surface, and breaks down on the water surface within 30 minutes is obtained, and a method of scattering (applying) the above formulation on 5% to 50% of the total area of the paddy field applied from a levee at a distance of 1 m or more.

Abstract: A technique and mixture for increasing water and agricultural chemical retention in an agricultural field's water absorbent polymers are applied to the land's surface and are then blended into the top six inches of the soil. The polymers, are of such small size that in a dry state, they fit into voids between grains in the soil. • Patent number: 5431232
Abstract: A cultivator is equipped with detachable harrows or detachable packers. When the cultivator is used for direct seeding, narrow openers cut through the earth, and seed pneumatically transported from an air seeder, is placed immediately behind the openers. Thereafter a series of packers, mounted to the rear of the cultivator, pack the seed. Spring tensioned support arms support the packers or harrows. Through various adjustments, these support arms can generate packing pressures from 0.5 psi to 3.5 psi, depending upon soil conditions. The same implement with the narrow openers and packers removed can be equipped with sweeps and mounted harrows to act as a general soil preparation device. When the harrows are mounted for field operation the adjustable spring tensioned support arms are adjusted to relax downward pressure. The unit as a whole, therefore, serves as a seeding or general tillage device, saving the operator extensive capital costs in farm machinery.
