Patent number: 11395454Abstract: A product distribution system mounting assembly includes at least one bracket that is rigidly coupled to a frame of an air cart and at least one crossbar that supports at least one component of a product distribution system of the air cart. The at least one crossbar is slidingly coupled to the at least one bracket, thereby enabling the product distribution system of the air cart to move along a vertical axis relative to the at least one bracket and relative to the frame of the air cart as the air cart moves in a direction of travel through a field.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2019Date of Patent: July 26, 2022Assignee: CNH Industrial Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Gregory James Johnson, Jesse Blair Pidwerbesky, Graham D. Patent number: 7261048Abstract: A furrow opener apparatus includes a parallel link trailing arm having a rear link that is maintained substantially horizontal as the arm moves up and down. Front and rear furrow openers are attached to the rear link. A packer wheel arm is attached to the rear link and extends rearward and downward from the rear link, and a packer wheel is mounted to the packer wheel arm and aligned with one of the furrow openers. A bias device exerts a downward bias force on the trailing arm, furrow openers, and packer wheel. The furrow openers, the packer wheel, and the rear link are maintained in rigid orientation with respect to each other when in a working mode, and a vertical operating position of at least one of the furrow openers with respect to the packer wheel is adjustable to vary a depth of the furrow.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2006Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Bourgault Industries Ltd.Inventor: Glenn Hantke

Patent number: 6691629Abstract: An overload protection apparatus for use with a planter apparatus including a coulter bar and coulter/fertilizer units mounted thereto, the coulter bar pivotally mounted to the underside of a wheel supported carrier frame designed for transport in a transport direction where a hydraulic cylinder is linked between the frame and the bar for moving the bar between a ground clearing transport position and a ground engaging position where the frame, cylinder and frame form a linkage path, the protection apparatus linked within the linkage path such that a draft force applied to the bar in a direction opposite the transport direction causes a secondary force on the apparatus and, when the secondary pressure exceeds the threshold pressure level, the protector de-links the linkage path thereby reducing the draft force.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2002Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: Case, LLCInventors: Paul M. Paluch, Leonard A. Bettin

Patent number: 5809914Abstract: An agricultural implement includes a forward implement frame and an aft carrier frame with wheels, with the two frames pivotally connected. The implement frame includes a hitch mechanism for attaching the implement to a traction vehicle, while a toolbar having a plurality of working units, such as ground working tools or spraying units, arranged in a spaced manner along its length is attached to an aft portion of the implement frame. Attached to the carrier frame is a storage container for dispensing material such as fertilizer or a herbicide. A forward portion of the carrier frame is pivotally coupled to an intermediate portion of the implement frame. A lift arrangement including a pair of hydraulic cylinders connecting the implement and carrier frames is located aft of the pivot connection between these two frames and permits the toolbar and working units to be raised to a nonuse position such as for transport or at the end of a field without lifting the storage container and its contents.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1996Date of Patent: September 22, 1998Inventor: Richard L. Follmer

Patent number: 4572087Abstract: A fertilizer injection apparatus having hollow, ground-piercing knives connected by tubes to a hopper with a fertilizer delivery system. A tool bar is connected to the hopper by rigid links pivoted to the tool bar at one end about the single axle of the hopper at the other end. A bell crank lever mechanism interconnected between the tool bar, each link and the hopper, maintains the hopper level with the ground regardless of whether the knives are above ground or how far they are inserted. The tool bar and hopper combination are pivotally towed by a tractor and a liquid fertilizer tank system which delivers its contents through hoses to an anterior point on each knife is towed behind the hopper.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Inventor: J. Phillip Brannan
