  • Publication number: 20120222605
Abstract: An embroidery sewing appliqué technique. A tacking stitch is produced and positioned inside a column of a fabric that holds down the fabric on top of a base or host material, such as a garment. Running parallel to the tacking stitch, a column or satin stitch runs near and to the outside of the tacking stitch. The column or satin stitch has a higher density than that utilized in normal embroidery applications. The higher density satin stitch varies with needle size and thread size. The satin stitch cuts the fabric along the outer edge of the fabric. The tack stitch on the inside of the satin stitch locks the fabric down therefore not allowing the inner edge of the satin to be lifted away from the garment by virtue of the running tack stitch and without a separate cutting step.

  • Patent number: 8220401
Abstract: In a sewing machine for covering chain stitch according to the present invention, a thread push member is mounted on a top cover shaft which drives a cover thread looper, and the thread push member is arranged on the cover thread guide. When swinging backward in association with a movement of the cover thread looper, the thread push member pushes the top cover thread passing through a guide hole of the cover thread guide, forcibly moves the top cover thread and keeps the top cover thread near a back end of the guide hole. The top cover thread is arranged at a predetermined position on a surface of a cloth without being affected by a force from the needle thread, and a covering chain stitch can stably be formed with the excellent appearance.

  • Patent number: 7954440
Abstract: Device for producing a fiber preform with virtually any desired surface geometry by a TFP process. A guiding device lays a fiber strand along virtually any desired path curve on a backing layer and a sewing head attaches the fiber strand on the backing layer by at least one fixing thread. The backing layer can be positioned in an xy direction in relation to the guiding device and the sewing head, wherein the sewing head and/or the guiding device can be positioned in a z direction. The separation of the positioning capabilities of the backing layer (xy direction) and the guiding device, the sewing head and the lower thread guide (z direction) provides a relatively simple device construction. Example devices can produce fiber preforms for dome-shaped composite components for use inter alia as pressure bulkheads for cabins in aircraft with virtually optimum properties.

  • Patent number: 7107919
Abstract: An upper decorative stitching device is designed to make it possible to precisely transmit the swing movement of a first lever which is capable of swing movements widthwise in a pendulum manner to horizontal reciprocating motion of a second lever, which is provided with a spreader. The device facilitates the operation of switching between an upper decorative stitching and no upper decorative stitching. A connecting rod (9) is provided at both ends with spherical bearings (10, 11) to provide a connection between the first lever (3) and the second lever (8), thereby converting the rotation of the upper shaft into the reciprocal movement of the spreader.

  • Patent number: 5960725
Abstract: A driving mechanism for a sewing machine includes a rotatable shaft coupled to one or more needles for moving the needles upward and downward in a reciprocating action. A rotary looper is rotatably secured to the sewing machine at a vertical axle and is coupled to the shaft for allowing the shaft to actuate the needles and the rotary looper simultaneously. A rod is vertically secured in the sewing machine and coupled to the rotary looper for rotating the rotary looper. Two bevel gears are secured to the rod and the shaft for allowing the shaft to rotate the vertical rod.

  • Patent number: 4867081
Abstract: A device for embroidery machines for attaching ribbons, braid, or the like on a fabric background has an axially displaceable rod-like needle carrier with a needle for embroidery thread. A material pressure foot is swivelable around the axis of a needle bar. A shuttle for receiving a shuttle thread is arranged behind the fabric background. The needle bar is received by a hollow shaft which is rotatable relative thereto. A front face of the hollow shaft includes radially extending grooves which are arranged diametrically with respect to each other. Webs extending into the radially extending grooves are provided at the rear side of an annular disk-shaped retainer for the material pressure foot. The needle of the needle bar extends into the retainer and is connected to a lifting mechanism of the material pressure foot. At least a front segment of the hollow shaft is received by a sleeve which is rotatable with respect to the hollow shaft.
