Upper Thread Patents (Class 112/293)
  • Patent number: 11105029
Abstract: A sewing or looping device for closing a tubular knitted article includes a body, two needles, a yarn support, and a cutting unit; the body has two spaced bases, the two needles are pivotally connected to the first base, respectively, and pivoting movement paths of the two needles are orthogonal to each other, the yarn support has a first section adjustably disposed on one of the bases, and a second section extending along an axial direction. The cutting unit is pivotally connected to the base where the yarn support is located. A cutting direction of the cutting unit is parallel to the axial direction, and the sewing chain stitch is pulled to the cutting point by the hook member and cut thereat. The sewing chain stitch assumes a tensioned state when being pulled, which in turn allows the sewing chain stitch to be cut more reliably and easily.

  • Patent number: 8844454
Abstract: The activation for a path and time related motion of a thread cutting and lead-in stitching unit (7) and the thread brake (25) occurs by a cam drive driven by the primary shaft (9) and a cam drum (75) arranged on the upper shaft (17). This way, an absolute synchronization of the elements of the thread cutting and lead-in stitching unit (7), the thread brake (25), and the hook as well as the needle is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20120097082
Abstract: A tufting machine for creating cut pile carpet with two different pile heights. A knife (20) associated with a respective hook assembly (1), and is reciprocally mounted and inclined with respect thereto. Each hook assembly has upper (6) and lower (7) hooks each having a cutting edge (8, 9) at the lower edge and means (10) for selectively directing the yarn onto one of the upper and lower hooks. The knives (20) each have a single cutting edge (21) arranged to co- operate with both the upper (6) and lower (7) hooks to cut each loop of yarn seized by a respective hook assembly with a scissor action. Relief (22) is provided between the knife and the lower hook allowing the knife to clear the lower hook (7) when the knife cutting edge (21) approaches the upper hook cutting edge (8).

  • Patent number: 6907834
Abstract: A sewing machine includes a head on which a needle bar for fixing a needle is mounted, a thread cutting blade mounted in the head so as to be capable of cutting an end of a thread which is threaded so as to be passed through an eye of the needle, and a holder mounted in the head so as to be capable of holding the thread end after the thread end has been cut by the thread cutting blade. The thread cutting blade is positioned so that a first amount of thread from the eye of the needle mounted in the head to the thread end held by the holder equals a second amount of thread by which the thread end is drawn to an underside of a cloth in a stitch formed immediately after start of a sewing operation.

  • Patent number: 6332419
Abstract: An auxiliary device of a sewing machine capable of making three net-like stitches has two clipping members connected to each other. A hooked plate is movably passed through between the clipping members to pull a first kind of threads for same to hold in position. The front ends of the clipping members are disposed under a curved hook of a thread guide, and relatively close to needles of the first threads such that, in sewing operation, the first threads can be connected with a net thread controlled by the thread guide and a shuttle to form the net-like stitch without possibility of the first threads falling off the clipping members and failing to connect the net thread.

  • Patent number: 5005504
Abstract: A thread-cutting device for zigzag sewing machines for forming uniformly short thread ends regardless of the top stitch position of the last stitch. The thread cutter 28 is movable in a plane that is parallel to the thread catcher 33 and is connected by a drive unit 45 through 58 having stop sections 54, 55 to the drive of the thread catcher 33 such that the thread catcher can be moved, together with the cutter, into the cutting position located below the center of the stitch hole. While the thread cutter 28 stops in the cutting position, the thread catcher completes the thread separation process. The thread cutter 28 is moved back during the return movement of the thread catcher 33 only after the threads have been cut. The drive unit 45 through 58 for the thread cutter 28 is of positive-locking design, as a result of which even thick threads are cut reliably. The thread cutting device is particularly suitabloe for installation (even subsequent installation) in stitch group zigzag sewing machines.

  • Patent number: 4919061
Abstract: For producing properly shaped button holes in which the first zigzag stitches of the first button-hole caterpillar pattern are formed flat by covering the needle-side piece of thread which is held clamped, the button-hole sewing machine 1 is provided with a push device 41, a release device 58 and a shift mechanism 78. In this way, the thread cutting and clamping device 26 is moveable in synchronism with a material-presser basket 9 during its first phase of motion (I-II) which is directed parallel to the sewing-material transport direction NV. Furhtermore, towards the end of the first movement phase I-II, the needle-side piece of thread which is held clamped at the beginning of the sewing is automatically released by the release device 58 at a predetermined place so that it is completely covered by the following zigzag stitches of the first button-hole caterpillar pattern 92.

  • Patent number: 4550672
Abstract: A thread-holding device is used with a standard buttonhole machine having a support head, a stitching needle for a needle thread displaceably mounted on the support head, and a blade for cutting the needle thread after a stitching operation and forming thereon a free end extending laterally from the needle. The thread-holding device comprises a support plate pivoted on the head, and a thread clip having a pair of jaws displaceable between a closed position engaging each other for holding the thread and an open position for releasing it. An actuator on the support plate and carrying the thread clip can move same vertically between an upper position spaced laterally relatively far from the needle and a lower position laterally relatively close to the needle.
