Patent number: 11771156Abstract: Aspects herein provide for a method of manufacturing a vented insulated garment using non-woven polymer sheets and garments produced therefrom. The method generally comprises providing a non-woven polymer sheet having one or more voided portions, positioning the sheet between two textile layers, and bonding the textile layers together at areas corresponding to the voided portions in the non-woven polymer sheet to form a seam. The seam may be optionally perforated.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2020Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: NIKE, Inc.Inventors: Luke A. Pezzimenti, Eric R. Noll, Jeffrey K. Ingram

Patent number: 4981095Abstract: This invention relates to decorative ribbons, and to methods and machines for making them. More specifically, the invention relates to fabric ribbons that are edged with wire and trimmed with an overlay of decorative thread.According to the invention, a run of fabric ribbon is simultaneously edged with wire and tightly bound with a binding filament (such as monofilament) and a trim filament (such as decorative thread). This is done in a single operation. The result is a unique ribbon construction, which has many desirable properties. The new ribbons are flexible, but will retain their shape when bent, twisted or tied into a desired configuration. They are elegantly simple in design and provide a novel streamlined finished product with components that are firmly bound together. The ribbons provide an improved edge and trimming where the wire meets the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: January 1, 1991Inventors: Lillian P. Sturm, Kurt D. Salomon

Patent number: 4872538Abstract: An article of luggage has first and second side walls joined by a joining wall. In preferred embodiments, the luggage further included a zipper positioned against the inner surface of the first side wall and forming a closure to a pocket of dimension similar to that of the side wall, and the joining wall includes a second zipper or gusset. A method of forming an article of luggage is also described.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1988Date of Patent: October 10, 1989Assignee: JLF Designs, Inc.Inventor: James L. Fournier

Patent number: 4512274Abstract: This relates to a seam between two edge portions of fabric wherein one fabric edge portion is reversely folded beneath itself and the two edge portions are then disposed in overlapped relation with the two free edges of the fabric being generally aligned. Adjacent the folded edge there is a first line of stitching which extends through all three layers. There is also provided a second line of stitching which includes two needle threads and a single looper thread with one of the needle threads extending through all three thicknesses of the fabric and the second needle thread extending only through the one layer of fabric beyond the overlapped fabric portions. The second line of stitching includes a looper thread which not only extends between the loops of the two needle threads, but also transversely of the line of stitching between the adjacent needle thread loops wherein the looper thread serves to hold down and prevent unraveling of the free edges of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1982Date of Patent: April 23, 1985Inventors: Richard J. Campbell, Jr., Kirk B. Campbell

Patent number: 4446181Abstract: A tubular lining for lining passages is formed, such liner being constructed from a laminate comprising a resin absorbent layer and an impermeable skin. The laminate is wrapped to tubular form with the skin outermost and the free edges are butted together and are connected in this condition by a sewing operation. A sealing ribbon as applied over the sewing to seal the seam and stitching to prevent the flow of liquid or synthetic resin through the seam when the lining is used.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 1, 1984Assignee: Insituform International Inc.Inventor: Eric Wood

Patent number: 4244996Abstract: A new process for making realistic appearing, simulated patchwork articles and a patchwork fabric configuration to be used therewith. In a preferred embodiment disclosed, a matrix of similarly sized, dimensionally aligned regions of design (14) is imprinted on a unitary piece of fabric (12). The regions of design (14) can be arranged in parallel rows and columns. The regions (14) are spaced from one another to define flexible fold regions (16) therebetween. The process includes steps of abutting facing edges (18) of adjacent regions (14) in a superimposed relationship and fixedly securing the regions (14) in this abutted configuration.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1979Date of Patent: January 13, 1981Inventor: Jennifer A. Maloney
