Having Cam Actuation Of Needle Or Material Feed Patents (Class 112/459)
  • Patent number: 10067411
Abstract: A driving apparatus which is capable of smoothly moving a follower by a cam portion, and realizes the stopper structure of the follower by a small number of components without the size increased. The driving apparatus comprises an up cam gear having an up radial cam and an up thrust cam, and a down cam gear unit having a down radial cam and a down thrust cam. The up cam gear and the down cam gear unit mesh with each other in a vicinity of a region in which a lift amount of the up radial cam with respect to the follower increases. In a vicinity of a position at which the up cam gear and the down cam gear unit mesh with each other, a lift amount of the up thrust cam is larger than a lift amount of the down thrust cam in the thrust direction.

Abstract: An improved structure high speed zigzag stitch industrial-use sewing machine in which a vertically extending columnar elevated material feed needle plate platform (Post Bed) structure is disposed below the needle holder of the sewing machine. The drive mechanism of the revolving shuttle and the material feed dog plate are situated in the interior section of the elevated material feed needle plate platform, with changes in the type of stitches sewn by the sewing machine governed by a pattern cam. As such, the elevated material feed needle plate platform (Post Bed) structure provides for wider applications than conventional level platform-type material feed needle plates which are incapable of easily sewing across concave, convex, and other irregular contours of objects being processed.

  • Patent number: 6145457
Abstract: A sewing machine has a needle bar up/down moving mechanism, a needle bar oscillating mechanism, a needle bar interrupting mechanism, a thread tension adjusting mechanism, and a thread tension releasing mechanism. The sewing machine further includes a driving mechanism that transmits a driving force of an electric motor to the needle bar oscillating mechanism, the needle bar interrupting mechanism and the thread tension releasing mechanism. The driving mechanism comprises a first cam and a second cam which are driven by the electric motor. The first cam has an oscillating cam face that controls the needle bar oscillating mechanism and an interrupting cam face that controls the needle bar interrupting mechanism. The second cam has a releasing cam face that controls a thread tension releasing mechanism. Therefore, the needle bar oscillating mechanism, the needle bar interrupting mechanism and the thread tension releasing mechanism can be driven by a common electric motor.

  • Patent number: 5267521
Abstract: A pattern generator for use in a zig-zag sewing machine wherein a needle bar is moved back and forth in an oscillatory movement to produce zig-zag action as a consequence of rotation of an arm shaft. The shaft rotates at a constant angular velocity with the period of time required for one cycle of oscillatory movement of the needle bar being equal to the period of time for two successive complete revolutions of the shaft. The generator includes a rotatable cam connected to the shaft to rotate the cam at the same velocity as the arm. A slide block follower engages the cam. The block has raised, intermediate and lowered positions in the cam and moves smoothly between these positions as the cam is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5063865
Abstract: In a sewing machine, an oscillating cradle has two bearings in which a needle bar is slidingly mounted. An external surface of each bearing has a spherical profile by which it is pivotingly engaged in a respective seat of complementary shape provided in a first arm of the cradle, for an upper bearing, and in a second arm, for a lower bearing. A resilient leaf spring, in the form of a U, exerts an axial pressure on both the upper bearing and the lower bearing, to maintain them in their seats in alignment with one another.

  • Patent number: 4619214
Abstract: The lateral displacement or oscillation of a sewing machine needle bar is controlled by a permanently installed servomotor-driven cam operated in coordination with a second similarly installed servomotor-driven cam controlling the displacement of the fabric feed dog. Manipulation of the faces on the two cams, in a synchronized manner, allows numerous stitch patterns to be achieved according to the amplitude and direction of displacement of the needle bar and feed dog pursuant to the positioning of the faces on the two cams by their respective servomotors.
