    Abstract: Scratch preventing baby mitt includes upper and lower panels formed of flexible material. The upper panel extends from a point on a baby's forearm to a point between a base of the metacarpal joints and the first phalangeal joints and across the back of the hand. The lower panel extends from a point on the forearm to the metacarpal joints and across the palm. The panels are joined at a finger side edge and at outer portions of the upper and lower panels at a thumb side edge. The panels form a sleeve that fits slidably over the hand exposing ends of the fingers and thumb. The lower panel has an internal cavity holds a resilient pad sized and shaped to extend beyond curled ends of the baby's fingers. An elastic cuff adjacent the inner end of the sleeve has an adjustable fastener for tightening the sleeve about the hand.

Personal fitting and adjusting for different size diaper inserts can be managed by making two of the sides adjustable length by utilizing either stretchable or non-stretch cords with stoppers.
