Patent number: 7828383Abstract: A rotating seating assembly for use in marine vessels. The seat assembly includes a car and track assembly with moveable sections. The sections can move about curvilinear paths which are defined by the curved track segments. A unique bearing/track linkage mechanism, interlocking the component parts, is incorporated into the novel design. In one configuration, the seating sections rotate about a circle track, a full 360 degrees. Bearing assemblies and rolling mechanisms provide smooth, quiet and efficient operation of the system.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2008Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: Brunswick CorporationInventors: Justin James Urbanek, John W. Patent number: 6179255Abstract: A seat mounting assembly to rotate a seat in a segment of an inclined rotational plane. The assembly rotates at a predetermined angle with respect to the direction of the force of gravity to bank the seat upward as it traverses to either the left or the right. The seat mounting assembly is constructed and arranged to receive a seat and to be mounted in a vehicle, such as a boat. An anti-rotational assembly is provided to control the rotational speed and the segment within the rotational plane in which the assembly reciprocates.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Inventor: John W. Patent number: 5669324Abstract: A rolling chair frame that includes a one-piece tubular frame, a platform, movable mounting apparatus, and preventing apparatus. The one-piece tubular frame is attachable to a movable object. The platform is sidewardly movably mounted to the one-piece tubular frame and is adapted to replaceably receive a chair. The movable mounting apparatus sidewardly movably mounts the platform to the one-piece tubular frame and maintains the platform level as the movable object moves. And, the preventing apparatus prevents removal of the platform from the one-piece tubular frame, so that the platform cannot be unintentionally removed from the one-piece tubular frame.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1996Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Inventor: Robert C. Patent number: 4425863Abstract: A seat mounting structure is provided defining a base portion for stationary mounting in a boat hull subject to roll movement and including a rudder control member oscillatable about a first fore and aft extending horizontal axis. A mount portion is supported from the base portion for adjustable vertical shifting relative thereto and a seat structure is oscillatably supported from the mount portion in pendulum fashion for swinging about a second fore and aft extending horizontal axis with the first and second axes disposed at least generally in the same vertical plane and the mount portion being vertically adjustable relative to the first axis to enable at least general horizontal alignment of the first and second axes. In addition, an upwardly opening arcuate footrest is provided for mounting between the seat structure and the rudder control member and the footrest is supported for vertical adjustment whereby the feet of a helmsman seated on the seat structure may be comfortably rested upon the footrest.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1981Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Inventor: Terrill D. Patent number: 4424760Abstract: A hanging chair with seat (1) and backrest (2) is provided for its suspension with lifting slings (23,24) a top eye and crotch straps (25,26) at the seat (1). The slings and crotch straps are formed from a single hose of the type which dilates radially for axial compression and increases its inner diameter from a nominal value in an unloaded state and contracts the diameter for an axial pulling load. A portion of the hose forming the sling (24) is taken through a hole (10) in the seat (1) under the seat and up through a hole (9) therein to form the sling (23) and lifting eye, internally along the sling (23), out from it to the backrest (2), and after passing along the back of the latter, to the sling (24), up through an opening (21) in the latter and out. Another portion of the hose forms one crotch strap (25), and is taken under the seat and out to form the other crotch strap (26 ), continues inside the sling (23) up to and out through an opening (19) therein.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1982Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Inventor: Fredrik A. Patent number: 4254990Abstract: A stabilized oscillating chair has a base means, a column extending upwardly from the base, a seat assembly having bottom, back and arm rest portions, and a yoke assembly supported on the upper portion of the column for roll rotation. The yoke assembly is pivotable for yaw rotation relative to the base, and extends under the arm rests for pivotal connection for pitch rotation of the chair assembly. Roll pivot means are provided between the column and the yoke assembly, and pitch pivot means are provided between the yoke assembly and the arm rests. Pitch bias springs are connected with the pitch pivots to urge the chair assembly to normal attitude and have such resilience as to accommodate maintenance of the seat assembly level when occupied.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1979Date of Patent: March 10, 1981Inventor: Eugene M. Patent number: 4122571Abstract: A latching assembly for mounting a seat on a boat thwart or the like comprising a base to rest on top of the thwart for securement of a seat thereto. A pair of keepers are mounted on top of the thwart for securing opposite sides of the base to the thwart, and a latch is mounted on the base on one of the opposite sides of the base. The latch is selectively movable from a retracted position to an extended latching position in which the latch projects beyond the side of the base and underlies one keeper to prevent vertical movement of the base relative to the thwart. The latch also abuts that keeper to block movement of the base on the thwart in side-to-side, front-to-back and back-to-front directions when the latch is in its latching position.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1977Date of Patent: October 31, 1978Assignee: Leisure Products, Inc.Inventor: Denis S.
