Abstract: A lifeboat hook assembly comprising a hook-shaped beak (5) and a release mechanism (6), said hook shaped beak (5) is rigidly connected to a lifeboat (2) at one end, said hook shaped beak (5) having a downwardly oriented shoulder (18) against which a loop (17) is adapted to rest so that the lifeboat is suspended in said loop (17), said release mechanism (6) is coupled to the hook-shaped beak (5) and is adapted to move relative to the hook-shaped beak (5) between a locked position (8a, 10a) wherein the loop is prevented from escaping from the shoulder (18), and a releasing position (8e, 10e) wherein the loop (17) is allowed to escape from the shoulder (18), an actuator (11) is coupled to the release mechanism (6) and is adapted to move the release mechanism (6) between the locked position (8a, 10a) and the releasing position (8e, 10e).
Abstract: A keel guard is comprised of a strip of PVC material having a length and a width. An alignment section is positioned along the length of the strip that is visible through the PVC material. The alignment section, which may be a groove for engaging the keel, facilitates installation and enables the installer to maintain the desired straightness along the entire installed length. Additionally, the see-through PVC material reveals any trapped air bubbles between the keel guard and the hull, enabling the are bubbles to be more easily removed, thereby providing a stronger, more uniform bond.
Abstract: The present invention provides a lifeboat disengagement system for supporting and releasing a twin fall lifeboat, the system comprising a single lifeboat release assembly and a pair of hook assemblies for releasable engagement with a corresponding pair of lifting links. The lifeboat disengagement system includes an engaged configuration wherein the lifting links are secured by the hook assemblies, and a disengaged configuration wherein the lifeboat release assembly is employed to release the lifting links from the hook assemblies simultaneously. The lifeboat disengagement system provides positive locking under load including a load over center design such that a load of the lifeboat is in line with a center of hook rotation, thereby preventing the hook from opening inadvertently and eliminating the need for a hydrostatic device.

Abstract: A device for releasing a life boat or the like from a hoisting cable, said device comprising a lifting members (13) attached to the boat, a hook (15) being pivotably mounted at said lifting member, said hook being openable by a releasing device. The object of the invention is to provide a releasing device for emergency situations when the normal releasing device is not functioning and which should be releasable even when the full weight of the boat loads the hooks. This has been achieved by the fact that the lifting member (13) is displaceable in its longitudinal direction and that a locking device (29) actuatable by an emergency device is arranged for blocking the lifting member from displacement.
