Abstract: The striking mechanism (1) for a watch or a music box includes a gong (11) fixed to a gong-carrier (12) and an activation member (2) for activating the gong in a striking mode. The striking mechanism includes a first magnetic element (13) arranged on the gong (11) and second magnetic elements (4) arranged on the periphery of the activation member (2), which is a magnetic wheel. In a striking mode, the magnetic wheel is set in rotation at a determined velocity so that the second magnetic elements (4), in the form of moving micro-magnets, move in succession and repeatedly into proximity with and opposite the first magnetic element (13), which is a fixed micro-magnet of opposite magnetic polarity. The rotation of the magnetic wheel sets the gong vibrating via a periodic variation in the magnetic repulsion or attraction force between the moving micro-magnets and the fixed micro-magnet of the gong.
Abstract: The invention concerns a watch with a striking work including a bottom plate and a gong including two ends, the gong being secured via a first end to the bottom plate. According to the invention, the second end of the gong is also secured to said bottom plate.
Abstract: The gong for the striking work or alarm of a watch is configured to produce a sound within the audible frequency range when it is struck by at least one hammer. This gong is made of a material, wherein the square root of the ratio between the elasticity module of the material divided by the volumic mass of the selected material is less than 3300 m/s, so as to allow the gong to produce a rich sound, comprising a large number of partials, within the audible frequency range. The selected material may be, for example, gold.
Abstract: A bell mounted in one of at least one brake lever of a bicycle is disclosed. The brake lever includes two brake levers each including an opening section. In one embodiment, the bell includes a sounding section in the opening section and including a hollow cylinder, an annular flange having one open end in communication with inside of the cylinder, a first spring biased between an inner wall of the brake lever and the cylinder with the flange disposed therein, a second spring in the cylinder and having one end engaged with the end of the cylinder, and a bolt driven through the second spring, the flange, and the first spring to have one end threadedly secured in the brake lever and a head urging against the second spring; and a spring biased striking section pivotably secured onto the brake lever and including a lever and a clapper.
Abstract: A bicycle bell with an inverted bell dome and a substantially enclosing cover. Preferably, the cover also functions to activate the bell. Alternatively, a lever actuator can be used, either in combination with the cap or as a separate element. The cover shields the bell dome from rain or other water and helps prevent the accumulation of water drops on the surface of the bell dome. The bell is adaptable to a variety of striking mechanisms but preferably uses one incorporating a gear train with a gear ration of at least 1:10 providing very rapid, long duration striking for relatively small movement by the user. The cap can be made of a transparent or semi-transparent material allowing the operation of the striking mechanism to be viewed.
Abstract: A railroad car-warning bell is centrally mounted on the hub of a wheel. Three opposed cylinder housings each contain a reciprocating ball which hits an end hammer to sound the bell when the wheel turns slowly up to speeds of nominally 15 mph. At higher speeds the balls are held against the end hammers, thereby automatically shutting off the bell to prevent noise pollution. The preferred embodiment has a single cylinder mounted along a diameter of the ringing bell. Three steel balls oscillate back and forth hitting a hammer at each end of the cylinder. A dampener may be used to adjust the ring of the bell.

Abstract: A motor driven bell for producing a sound of a bell in a manner that a hammer member hits a gong through the use of a driving force of a motor. The motor driven bell comprises a supporting shaft A1 born on a front side between a pair of opposed frames, a forward and backward swingable shaft A2 suspended by a suspending arm A3 under the supporting arm A1, a supporting shaft B1 born at a rear portion between the pair of frames, and a forward and backward swingable shaft B2 suspended by a suspending arm B3 under the supporting shaft B1, a forward and backward swingable hammer member held by the swingable shafts A2, B2, and a gong to be hit with the hammer member. A crank mechanism is provided for converting rotation of a shaft of the drive motor into a swinging motion of the swingable shaft B2, thereby hitting the gong by the hammer member to produce the bell sound.
Abstract: A miniaturized electromagnetic bell unit suitable for use with an alarm clock and the like is provided. The bell unit of the present invention is characterized in that it is miniaturized in such a way that a yoke to which a coil and a bell hammer are attached is incorporated within a bell and the bell is fixed to the yoke.
Abstract: A volume control device suitable for installation on the ringer of a telephone incorporates a tone control lever having a damping element cantilevered therefrom and extending as a wing from a point of pivoting in a direction generally parallel to a frame of the ringer. The lever further comprises an arm bent through the frame to serve as a handle, and a leg extending in an opposite direction from the pivot for contacting a detent structure integrally formed with the frame. Also, integrally formed with the frame, are a ramp and a guide. The guide extends upwardly from the frame and then over a path of travel of an outer end of the wing for urging the wing downward so as to ensure passage of the wing underneath a rim of the gong during a rotation of the lever about the pivot.

Abstract: A metallic bell-type alarm device for indicating the need for refueling or otherwise adjusting the heat generated within a wood stove or the like. The device is mounted on or adjacent to a stove at a location where it can respond to heat fluctuations in the stove. It comprises a metallic casing and base plate having mounted therein a bimetallic spring having a free-riding clapper washer mounted thereon and a trigger rod that cooperate to sound a bell alarm when significant temperature changes cause the spring to react to change position and strike the metal casing to sound a bell alarm.
Abstract: A double gong bell has an outer gong and an inner gong separately arranged to accommodate the inner gong within the space defined by the inner surface of the outer gong. In one embodiment at least two hammer driving members, disposed within the space defined by the inner surface of the outer gong and slidably supported within a mounting means are adapted for reciprocal movement upon the action of a hammer driving means. The ends of the hammer driving members closest to the gongs are attached to a first resilient member and a hammer. A pair of second resilient members attached to the hammer driving members and the mounting means are biased to urge the hammers to strike the inner and outer gongs upon the action of the hammer driving means generating a bell sound having composite tone colors.
Abstract: An elliptical cymbal or gong. The cymbal structure has a platelike configuration bounded by a continuous edge defining opposite elliptical areal surfaces about its periphery. The foci of the boundary ellipse are visually indicated at the outer surface of the cymbal or gong to guide the user in striking the cymbal at one of these locations.
Abstract: A gong or bell attached to a door such that when a thief breaks open the door, a ball or like object having a rod extending therethrough and resting on a ledge which projects from the top of a frame for the door, falls along the rod as the ball or like object is pushed with the door out of a slot in the ledge and rings the gong or bell by striking it and a spring which prevents muffling of the sound.

Abstract: In a motor driven type gong striking mechanism, the rotation of the main shaft of an electric motor is converted through a crank mechanism into the oscillation of a piston plate, a gong striking hammer is coupled through a spring to the piston plate so that the hammer is oscillated, and a gong is disposed in the range of oscillation of the hammer. Thus, as a result of the rotation of the motor, the hammer is oscillated to strike the gong provided in the stroke of the hammer.
