To check the amount of oil, the float cap is removed and the position of the float is checked. If a sufficient amount of oil is stored, an upward force derived from oil buoyancy is larger than a downward force of the own weight of the float, from among the forces that act on the float. • Patent number: 7077003
Abstract: A liquid level sensor-switch capable of effectively reducing variations in levels detected depending on directions in which it is inclined. The sensor-switch has a case, a guide rod formed therein, a float mounted on the guide rod with a clearance and being movable in the vertical direction along the guide rod in the case, an electrode plate attached to the bottom of the float and a pair of terminals disposed on both sides of the guide rod on the inside bottom of the case, wherein the float moves downward as the level of liquid lowers and it detects a specified low level by contacting the electrode plate with the paired terminals to make conductive a circuit formed between the terminals. It is featured by the fact that a pair of protrusions for restricting a biased movement of the float with respect to the guide rod are provided on both sides of the guide rod on the inside bottom of the case in a direction with a specified angle to a direction of arrangement of the paired terminals.

Abstract: A float adapted to track an interface between two liquids of differing density, includes a hollow buoyant body having an interior cavity adapted to retain liquid. At least one upper access opening is provided in the body, which is adapted to permit filling of the interior cavity with liquid. The interior cavity is capable of holding sufficient liquid to retard the buoyancy of the body. By filling the interior cavity with a liquid of a first density, the hollow buoyant body can be made to float at an interface with a lighter liquid of a second density.

  • Patent number: 7037031
Abstract: An automatic barricade includes a trench across a road that is covered by a grate allowing vehicular traffic during normal dry weather. Inside the trench is a series of barricade elements, each of which includes a float. When rising water fills the trench to a predetermined level, each float rises and elevates the elements above the road. The barricade elements are sufficiently robust and intimidating to deter motorists from driving over them but are spaced apart to be light enough to be easily actuated by the float. The barricade elements are sufficiently close together that vehicles cannot pass between them. In another embodiment, a sensor is adjacent the trench to detect rising water and communicates with a motor connected to the barricade elements for raising them to a traffic blocking position.

Abstract: A device used with fluid canisters comprising a transparent body allowing the viewing of movement within the body having a minor and major cavity with a float indicator and float seat within the minor cavity. An inhaler top and bottom fits each end of the body forming an airtight chamber within the major and minor cavity above the float, the top having a seat to accept a canister and a nozzle aperture to accept a nozzle of the canister oriented to release fluid from the canister into the major cavity. An inlet through the minor cavity below the seat maintains pressure equal to pressure outside of the body within the minor cavity. Inhalation through a mouthpiece and one way valve reduces pressure within the major and minor cavity above the float drawing fluid through the one way valve creating a pressure difference across the float causing it to move.

Abstract: A fill level indicator assembly for an agricultural material bin such as a seed dispensing hopper. The assembly includes an elongate sighting member which provides a water impermeable cover over an indicator opening in the bin cover and has a transparent portion providing visual access to the interior of the sighting member. An indicator rod extends through the indicator opening and has a distinctive marking located near one end. The opposite end of the indicator member has a foot which engages the agricultural material within the bin. Gravity causes the indicator member to lower as the quantity of agricultural material within the bin is depleted. As the indicator member lowers, the distinctive marking within the sighting member is also lowered thereby providing a visual indication of the quantity of material remaining in the bin.

  • Patent number: 6443091
Abstract: A drain alert device for detecting an overflow condition in a drainage system having a drain conduit, wherein wastewater is received through an inlet of the drain conduit, is provided, comprising an overflow conduit extending horizontally from the drain conduit below the inlet. The overflow conduit leads to an overflow detection device which includes a vessel having an internal volume sufficient to contain an amount of overflow wastewater. A buoyant member having an elongated, substantially vertical, overflow indicator resides within the vessel, and the overflow indicator is guided by a guide tube extending above the vessel. Thus, the overflow indicator reveals the extent of an overflow condition by protruding through the guide tube in response to the level of wastewater within the vessel. The vessel further includes a drain port having a threaded coupling capable of receiving a conventional flexible hose so that the appliance may be operated despite obstructions in the drain conduit.
