Abstract: A dispensing system having a treatment cartridge utilizing linear translation of the treatment cartridge within the manifold to actuate a valve to dispense a fluid. To dispense the fluid, a person pushes their glass or other container against a dispensing lever that translates the treatment cartridge within the manifold causing a cam surface on the filter's circumferential exterior to actuate a valve sending the fluid from the valve though the treatment cartridge and out a dispensing orifice in the treatment cartridge into the glass.

The light emission element of the inorganic substance dispersion type is shaped as a rod, and includes a linear metal core, an electrically-insulating reflective layer made of an enamel and disposed on the core, a fluorescent light emission layer which is made of an enamel and a fluorescent substance dispersed therein and is disposed on the reflective layer, an electroconductive film disposed on the light emission layer and capable of being electrically connected to the core, and an outer electrically-insulating layer disposed on the film. The film has at least one slit which has a width smaller than the diameter of the luminous pointer and extends as a luminously visible portion in the longitudinal direction of the film. An intermediate electrically-insulating layer made of an enamel may be provided between the light emission layer and the film.

  • Patent number: 5291851
Abstract: An automobile gauge in which the needle thereof is brightened so that the ability with which the driver can see and confirm the position of the needle is enhanced. A pigmented layer is formed on the indicator portion of the needle. Bulbs and a light-guiding plate disposed on the reverse surface of a dial, or a light emitting element provided at the back of the needle introduces light so as to brighten the needle. Because the indicator portion of the needle is shaped into a substantially long and slender cylinder, the light irradiated and guided into the indicator portion advances toward the end of the indicator portion while the total reflection thereof is repeated. Most of the irradiated light reaches the end of the indicator portion because very little of the irradiated light dissipates outside the needle. The entire indicator portion can be thereby brightened uniformly.

Abstract: A dial needle is mounted on a drive shaft of a measuring instrument. The dle includes a body and a support, both mounted on the drive shaft. The body and the support are initially connected in a one-piece construction in which the body is spaced axially from the support. Upon axially moving the body along the shaft to the support, weakened zones break, thereby detaching the body from the support. A pointer on the body is angularly turnable to an indexed position by a peripheral projection and a complementary recess provided on the support and the body.

  • Patent number: 5078079
Abstract: A gauge for a vehicle has a spontaneous light-emission type pointer with a built-in light-emitting device. The pointer is fixed to a pointer shaft rotatably driven in accordance with a measured value. A solid circuit member for supporting a light-emitting device and for coupling the light-emitting device to the pointer shaft is fixed to the pointer. The solid circuit member has a first plated conductive layer for electrically connecting one of the terminals of the light-emitting device to the pointer shaft, and a second plated conductive layer for electrically connecting the other of the terminals to a spring abutment fixed to the pointer shaft in an insulating fashion. The solid circuit member is connected to a power source for lighting the light-emitting device. Consequently, a number of parts required for supplying power to the light-emitting diode can be reduced.

A narrow band of fluorescent substance is centrally located longitudinally along the full length of the pointing portion. The narrow band is bordered on each side along the full length by remaining areas of the pointing portion free of any fluorescent substance to create a contrasting appearance for maintaining a distinction between the band and indicia on the dial board when subject to ultraviolet light. An ultraviolet lamp is arranged in front of the dial board and the pointer to excite and thus cause the fluorescent part of the pointer to emit visible light.
