Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for continuous coating with a rotational die in which coating materials flow in a radial direction. The linear speed of a substrate in need of coating is identical to the tangential speed of the surface of the rotational die so that the coating material, which flows in a radial direction of the rotational die, flows onto the substrate perpendicularly. Therefore, the ingredients of coating materials overlap one another (or stand vertically as a layer), and the vertical sequence of the coating material is ensured. This method and apparatus can be used to make organic electronic devices, organic light-emitting diodes and organic photovoltaic devices. Particularly, this method and apparatus can be used in bulk-hetero-junction of mixed coating of P-type and N-type semiconductors.

According to this decided speed, a speed of the circulation flow generated in a liquid holding space is controlled in a pump operating process (S4). This controls a pressure in the liquid holding space. As a result, a state of flow of the applying liquid at a contact member of a liquid holding member in contact with the applying roller is changed, and an amount of the applying liquid adhering to an applying roller and going out of the contact portion is controlled. • Patent number: 7537661
Abstract: When it is determined that an end process flag is not stored in memory, there is a possibility that the recovery operation was not executed normally and the viscosity increased or fixed coating liquid exist in a liquid holding member and liquid flow paths. Therefore, a filling operation for generating stronger fluidization than a normal filling operation is carried out as a filling operation also acting as a restoration operation. That is, a pump is operated at a predetermined rotating speed for a specified time, which is longer than the specified time for the normal filling operation. By this, the viscosity increased coating liquid existing in the liquid holding space and the respective liquid flow paths is re-fluidized to an extent that will not interfere with circulation, and normal filling of the coating liquid is carried out.

Abstract: A coating liquid application apparatus is provided which can apply a coating liquid, such as a coating agent for improving a weatherability of a printed surface, to the printed surface of a print medium automatically and at high speed. For this purpose, this invention uses application mechanisms to apply the coating liquid to the print medium that was ink-printed with an image. Each application mechanism has a pair of rollers supplied with the coating liquid. Multiple stages of such application mechanisms are provided. The print medium is passed between the paired rollers successively from one application mechanism to another to apply the coating liquid to the print medium in a plurality of stages.

Abstract: A polyurethane resin coating device includes a material mixing unit for mixing materials to have them reacted to form polyurethane resin liquid mixture. Subsequently, the polyurethane resin liquid mixture flows downward to a pressuring and sending unit to be mixed and reacted again by the helical rods rotating in the pressuring and sending unit and then pressured and conveyed to a gear pump. Afterward, the polyurethane resin liquid mixture is controlled by the rotating speed of the gears in the gear pump and steadily conveyed onto a coating wheel. A gap adjustable in size is formed between the wheel surface of the coating wheel and the outlet of the gear pump, able to carry out coating steadily and evenly.

  • Patent number: 6866716
Abstract: A tool and method for painting pinstripes on vehicles or other objects includes a wheel which cooperates with a paint reservoir. As the wheel is rolled along a surface, the wheel picks up paint from the reservoir and deposits it upon the surface. The wheel has rounded edges to prevent damage to the surface being striped. The tool has a rectangular shape which prevents it from rotating in the hand of the user, and has a slim transverse profile so that a pinstripe may be placed close underneath an obstruction such as a side view mirror. The guide bar of the present invention, which cooperates with a magnetic guide strip, is flat and has a rounded distal end. As such, the guide bar provides a more positive fit in the groove of the magnetic guide strip, and also allows the tool to be turned substantially perpendicular to the surface being striped.

Abstract: The present invention includes a device and a method of applying a coating to a web. The preferred device comprises a feed nozzle coupled to a stiffener coupled to a spring coupled to a position/force adjuster. The feed nozzle comprises a fluid reservoir, a feed pipe, a metering surface, end seals and a back seal. The stiffener spring, as the frame deflects and polymer covered rolls deform, permits the rotation of the feed nozzle so a proper geometry is maintained, permitting increased control and a wider film thickness control range for a specific nozzle shape. This device permits greater film thickness control, ability to process at much higher speeds than currently achievable, and a wider range of film thickness. This device permits coatings to be applied at much wider ranges of rheological characteristics. Coatings can be applied at higher percent solids with improved characteristics. Multiple feed nozzles provide rapid product changeover for greater equipment utilization and higher productivity.
