Abstract: A surface treating apparatus that suppresses occurrence of defects is provided. A treatment solution is accumulated in a tank 15 through a treatment solution collecting port/air discharging port 13 in a lower portion of a body 4. An air heated by the treatment solution flows toward an upper portion (portion without the treatment solution) of the tank 15 via the treatment solution collecting port/air discharging port 13 in the lower portion of the body 4, and is discharged via an exhaust duct 17. In this way, the air that is heated and tends to flow upward in the body 4 is discharged from the lower portion thereof and is replaced with an external air from the upper portion thereof. Accordingly, the air in the body 4 can be maintained at a uniform temperature. Thus, the treatment solution that reaches a lower portion of a substrate 54 from an upper portion thereof can be maintained at a uniform temperature.

Abstract: Aspects of the methods and apparatuses herein involve applying fluids onto an advancing substrate. The apparatuses and methods herein may provide for the application of viscous fluids, such as adhesives, in pre-determined patterns to an advancing substrate. The fluid application apparatus may include a slot die applicator and a substrate carrier. The slot die applicator may include a slot opening, a first lip, and a second lip, the slot opening located between the first lip and the second lip. And the substrate carrier may be adapted to advance the substrate past the slot die applicator as the slot die applicator discharges adhesive onto the substrate. In operation, when a first surface of the substrate is disposed on the substrate carrier, the substrate carrier advances a second surface of the substrate past the slot opening of the slot die applicator.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for continuous coating with a rotational die in which coating materials flow in a radial direction. The linear speed of a substrate in need of coating is identical to the tangential speed of the surface of the rotational die so that the coating material, which flows in a radial direction of the rotational die, flows onto the substrate perpendicularly. Therefore, the ingredients of coating materials overlap one another (or stand vertically as a layer), and the vertical sequence of the coating material is ensured. This method and apparatus can be used to make organic electronic devices, organic light-emitting diodes and organic photovoltaic devices. Particularly, this method and apparatus can be used in bulk-hetero-junction of mixed coating of P-type and N-type semiconductors.
