  • Patent number: 6387441
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for batch, continuous, or semi-continuous coating of optical lenses. The method and apparatus use a plurality of carriages which are reciprocally moved in the apparatus to transfer jigs from a jig filled carriage to a lens loading arm and to load the jigs with lenses and then to transfer the jigs now containing uncoated lenses to a leading empty carriage. Using such a reciprocating motion, a leading empty carriage is now filled with jigs containing uncoated lenses and the uncoated lenses in the carriage may then be coated by dipping the carriage in a coating tank. After coating, the coated lenses are removed from the system. A similar reciprocating motion is used in the coated lens unloading section.

  • Patent number: 6067928
Abstract: A filament guide assembly is provided with a support rod carrying a plurality of filament guides each for guiding a respective one of a plurality of filaments. A pair of support blocks mount the support rod at each end thereof to allow for (i) rotational movements between a raised position, wherein the filament guides are spaced from a respective one of the filaments, and a lowered position wherein the guides are in contact with the respective one of the filaments, and (ii) lateral shifting movements between an operative position, wherein the guides are aligned with the respective one of the filaments, and a rest position wherein the guides are laterally misaligned with the respective one of the filaments. Most preferably, the guide assembly is employed in combination with a finish oil applicator so that the guides bias the individual filaments into contact with finish oil nozzles thereof, and in so doing, ensure that positive contact between the finish oil nozzles and the filaments occurs.

Abstract: A vertical circuit board soldering apparatus for soldering printed circuit boards by immersing them in a molten solder bath. Air knives are employed to remove excess solder from boards leaving the bath. A displacement mechanism vertically dips the circuit boards. The mechanism comprises a parallelepiped frame that comprises two spaced apart parallel rails securing a sliding chassis therebetween. The chassis comprises three parallel spaced apart members. An upper member transversely extends between the rails while captivating a portion of each rail adjacent its ends. A parallel lower member depends from the upper member with an adjustable intermediate member therebetween. The intermediate member also transversely extends between the rails while captivating another portion of the rails. The intermediate member is coupled to the upper member by a screw jack that moves the intermediate member upwardly or downwardly to vary the distance therebetween to accommodate various board sizes.

  • Patent number: 6035925
Abstract: A system of gating orifices for continuous pressure infiltration processes eliminates blow-out of the pressurized molten metal matrix material and friction damage to the infiltrated perform. The system includes three or more orifices along a vertical path of an upwardly moving perform which passes from vacuum or atmospheric pressure into a pressurized infiltrating bath of molten metal, then into a pressurized atmosphere in which the matrix fully solidifies, and from there to an atmospheric environment. The entering orifice, at the bottom of the pressurized bath, is elongated in the direction of the perform movement to provide a temperature gradient from above the matrix material melting temperature at the bath to below the solidification temperature farthest from the bath. The resulting liquid-mushy-solid sequence of the matrix material forms a solidification seal to prevent blow out of the pressurized molten metal.

The apparatuses comprise a vessel for containing a first coating liquid, in which the egg yolk disks are dispensed. A preferably continuous belt is synchronized with the dispenser so that the back part of the belt is immersed in the liquid when the egg-yolk is being dispensed, while it rises during the period of time that the dispenser is getting ready to dispense a new egg-yolk, thus transferring the yolk out of the liquid. The belt has preferably perforations in its middle portion and it is pivoted in the vicinity of the front end of the vessel. The apparatuses of the present invention are useful for coating articles other than egg-yolk disks.

  • Patent number: 5954880
Abstract: In a roller support device, an inner peripheral surface of a bearing box is covered with a material having a poor wettability with respect to a molten metal, such as tantalum, graphite, C/C composite, silicon carbide or the like. The molten metal does not adhere to the covered portion, or even if the molten metal adheres to and is solidified on the covered portion, the molten metal can be peeled off with a light force. Therefore, after a support roller is pulled up from the molten metal, the molten metal does not prevent a rolling bearing from shifting in the axial direction thereof so that the roller support device can prevent an excessive force from being applied to the rolling bearing when the support roller, after it is thermally expanded once, is contracted as the temperature falls.
