  • Patent number: 5620520
Abstract: An apparatus for coating internally threaded fasteners, particularly closed end fasteners, such as flanged weld nuts, which includes a powder spray arrangement, has a spray nozzle within a spray cylinder. The spray nozzle arrangement is actuated by an air cylinder to be in abutting relationship with a fastener seated in the spray position. The spray nozzle is tapped for the supply of air and for the supply of powder to the fastener threads. The spray block on which the nut is sprayed has a vacuum line that exhausts excess powder that does not adhere to the threads.

  • Patent number: 5571322
Abstract: A pencil marking device for clipped cloth includes a fixing base, a pencil pedestal, a driving pedestal, a driving source, and at least two sensors, in which the fixing base is fixed on the automatic marking machinery, and the pencil pedestal is connected in it. The tooth ring is formed on the outside of the pencil pedestal. The driving pedestal is installed on one side of the fixing pedestal and is engaged with the tooth ring of the pencil pedestal through an active gear rack for driving the pencil pedestal to rotate at a fix point. The active gear rack is connected with the driving source by an U shape connection and driven to move horizontally by the driving source. The sensors are installed on the ends of the driving pedestal respectively for sensing the moving range of the active gear rack. The range of the horizontal movement of the active gear rack is restricted for driving the pencil in the pencil pedestal to rotate and mark at a fix position, then an automatic pencil marking device is constructed.

  • Patent number: 5534067
Abstract: A spraying system comprises a conveyor for conveying a series of boards through a spraying station, spray nozzles at the spraying station and a mechanism for controlling spraying from the nozzles onto the board located at the spraying station. The control mechanism comprises a sensor for sensing the speed of the conveyor, a photoelectric cell for sensing the presence of a board on the conveyor and a logic unit which is positioned and arranged for calculating the length of the board in response to signals from the sensor and photoelectric cell. The logic unit is arranged to activate a supply of liquid flux to the nozzles when the leading edge of the board reaches the spraying station and the nozzles are reciprocated across the conveyor as the board is advanced. Sensors control the nozzles so that spray is delivered only onto the board and is stopped as the nozzles reach the side edges of the board.

The sheets are fed to a gravure printing machine, which applies stripes of striking compound material to predetermined areas of the sheets as they pass therethrough. A conveyor is provided for conveying the sheets from the sheet feeder to the gravure printing machine. After leaving the gravure printing machine the stripes of striking compound material are dried in a radio frequency drier. The sheets are then cut into matchbox blanks by cutting machines. The gravure printing machine has an upper engraving roller, a lower pressure roller, and means for feeding the sheets between the two rollers so that the stripes are printed on the upper surface of the sheets in register with the matchbox blanks.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing repetitive cycles of panel coating operations using a programmable manipulator including a manipulator arm movable along a plurality of axes. The apparatus comprises a hand unit carried on the manipulator arm. The hand unit is movable so as to bring the brush held by it into resilient contact with an area of the panel to be coated. A coating material is injected into the brush at a predetermined rate while the brush is held in resilient sliding contact with the panel and while the manipulator arm moves about the panel to coat a preselected area of the panel. After the preselected area of the panel has been coated, the manipulator arm is moved to move the brush out of contact with the panel. Between coating cycles, the manipulator arm moves the brush into a storage chamber where it is treated to prevent the coating material from caking on the coating brush.

Abstract: A device which provides an economical means for coating offset plates on one side with a solvent based coating. An offset plate is advanced along a feed table by a suction belt toward a roller assembly consisting of a fountain roller, a metering roller, a coating roller and an impression roller. The fountain roller transfers liquid from a supply of coating liquid to the metering roller which transfers a predetermined amount of liquid to a moving plate by the coating roller. The impression roller forces the plate into engagement with the coating roller. A photoelectric sensor detects the leading edge of the plate as it moves through the roller assembly and moves the impression roller toward the coating roller to begin the coating application. The sensor detects the trailing edge of the moving plate and retracts the impression roller to stop the coating application. The speed of the feed belt, discharge belt and rollers are synchronized to accurately control the thickness of the coating applied to the plate.

Abstract: An adhesive applicator has a nozzle through which adhesive can be dispensed to sheets of a set as the sheets are driven seriatim past the nozzle. Adhesive is furnished in a cartridge which is pressurized so that the adhesive is delivered from the cartridge to the nozzle under pressure. A valve controls the flow of adhesive from the nozzle, and the valve is under control of a logic and control unit. The logic and control unit receives signals from various sensors or detectors indicating, inter alia, the presence of an adhesive cartridge, the level of adhesive in the cartridge, the flow of adhesive from the nozzle, and the amount of adhesive in a collection bottle which receives surplus adhesive dispensed from the nozzle but not applied onto a sheet. The logic and control unit is capable of operating the valve that controls flow of adhesive from the nozzle so that adhesive is selectively dispensed from the nozzle to all but one sheet of a set of sheets.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the automatic coating of articles. The apparatus has a spray device controlled by a programmed control device. A transport device transports the articles along a predetermined path to a coating position and then away therefrom after coating. A sensor monitors the position of the article and generates signals representative thereof, preferably generating one signal each time the article moves a predetermined distance (e.g. 2 cm.) along the path. A second sensor generates additional signals to the control device when an article passes a predetermined point, also indicating which of several types of articles has been detected. The control device controls the spraying process responsive to these signals. If desired, portions of the article that are moved sequentially into the coating position can be sprayed in different manners, e.g. with the spray devices positioned or oriented differently, or using different coating materials, etc. The control device is preferably reprogrammable.
