Abstract: This disclosure relates to a tray containing litter for use by an animal. The tray is formed of plastics and comprises a planar floor having at least one deformation acting as a fold line and a plurality of upstanding sidewalls. Each of the sidewalls is free of any fold line and is connected to the floor to form an open compartment. Each of the sidewalls also comprises an upper edge. At least one complementary engagement means is disposed on each of the sidewalls. The complementary engagement means is integral with the sidewall. The tray is adapted in use to retain its shape and is foldable to a closed condition for disposal. The deformation is arranged to permit the tray to be folded to bring the upper edge of the adjacent sidewalls together to enable engagement of the complementary engagement means to seal the tray and the contained litter.

Abstract: Three pieces are stamped out of a rigid flat material. A bottom piece having a bottom, a pair of side walls, a pair of end walls, and panel flaps is folded to form a tray for holding a plastic bag containing a quantity of pet litter. A middle piece forming a pair of side walls, a front wall and a rear wall is assembled into a single continuous loop, and fits snugly around the tray formed from the bottom piece. A top piece having a center panel, two end panels and a lip running around the perimeter of each end panel fits onto the middle piece to form a lid. The middle piece has an intermediate fold in each side wall, allowing the middle piece to collapse along the intermediate folds and the foldable adjoining edges of the side walls. The top piece collapses into a box in which the collapsed middle piece, the plastic bag and the tray formed from the middle piece are stored. A handle integral with and formed out of part of the top piece allows the container to be carried like a suitcase in the collapsed state.

Abstract: A collapsible animal box which can be conveniently shipped, marketed and discarded in collapsed form is disclosed. The box may contain animal litter and an animal litter container. Preferably, the animal box is constructed from a single cut and scored blank of foldable material. The assembled, fully extended animal box encloses a space sufficiently large to accommodate an animal litter container and at least one animal, and includes a door positioned to permit entry and egress by the animal.

Abstract: A no mess litter box for a pet that is disposable and includes a sheet which has a base with a rectangular border extending peripherally upward therefrom and a lower end border, a left side border and a right side border therebetween with the sheet including a fold line positioned on the base perpendicular to each side border. A pair of spaced opposed end panels with each panel having a left side, a right side a top end edge. A bottom end edge is in communication with a respective end border of the base and a fold line with a plurality of slits thereon perpendicular to the sides therebetween. Each fold line forms a pair of end walls and has a shelf in a plane above the base and points away from the base. A pair of spaced opposed side panels are provided. Each panel has left and right end sides and a bottom end edge in communication with a side border of the base.

Abstract: A shelf for supporting cat litter within a litter box in a spaced relationship relative to a floor of the box. The inventive device includes a perimeter frame having a plurality of spaced slats extending thereacross so as to support litter above potentially toxic deodorant or disinfectant materials positioned beneath the perimeter frame within the box. A locking assembly permits selective movement of the slats relative to the perimeter frame to facilitate ease of cleaning of the device.

Abstract: A canine lavatory of modular construction for effective toilet training and continued use. A suitable site is selected and the dog is trained to relieve itself at-the site (typical training for a dog) and the lavatory enclosure is gradually built therearound after the dog has become enured to use the particular site. The lavatory comprises an enclosure with an open, readily accessible entrance having a flushing activating member for automatic activation by the entrance of the dog within the enclosure. The lavatory further comprises flushing and gravity dependent drainage systems. The flushing mechanism is adapted to be activated to fill to level and then to automatically trip flush. The filling and flush trip are adjustably timed according to dog habit and need. With the timed fill and self flush, the water fill system is completely purged of above-ground residual water to prevent freezing in an outdoor facility.

Abstract: The disposable pet utility system (10) for providing prepackaged absorbent cat litter and the like for household pet care, includes a container (11) formed of a material and having creases at each of its corners for collapsing the container about its contents during shipment and disposal, and for erection during use. The container (11) includes a top wall (40), having perforations and creases formed in the top wall (40) to allow sections (41) and (42) of the top wall to tear and separate from each other to fold back reversibly and to be positioned underneath the container (11) for a rigid support. After contents of the container (11) have been used, the sections (41) and (42) of the top wall are resealed and the container (11) is collapsed so as to allow a compact and sanitary method of disposal.

Abstract: A cat litter box sifter comprises (1) a rectangular tray bottom with perforations extending throughout the length and width dimensions of said tray bottom and (2) four side walls, each extending upwardly from one respective side edge of the rectangular tray with perforations extending throughout the length and width dimensions of each side wall. Multiple trays are assembled from a preformed litter sifter sheet material and nested together in a cat box below the level of granular litter material within the cat box. Single trays can be removed successively to effectively remove fecal matter without also removing the granular litter material, thus extending its duration of use.

Abstract: A method of disposing of animal excrement uses a container having a bottom wall, a front wall, a rear wall, a first side wall and a second side wall. The front wall, the rear wall and the first and the second side walls each are connected to the bottom wall and cooperate with the bottom wall to encompass a pet receiving space in an opened position of the container in which litter material is placed. The ends of the side walls and the front and rear walls, opposite the ends connected to the bottom wall are connected. The side walls each are gusseted so that the container may be collapsed to a position wherein the side walls and the front and rear walls are folded onto the bottom wall in the collapsed position of the container. The container is opened from the collapsed position to an operating position wherein the side walls and the front and rear wall each extend a distance upwardly from the bottom wall and cooperate to enclose the pet receiving space.

The side section has lateral edges and inboard and outboard edges and the roof section has lateral edges and inboard and outboard sections. The additional flaps also include a front flap integral with a front side of the bottom section, comprised of plural sides including two lateral sides perpendicular to the bottom section, integral with diagonal sides set at an angle to the lateral sides of the back section and integral with a short side at the far end. The front flap also includes a door.

Abstract: A foldable, disposable, kitty liter container having an outside enclosure, a bottom disposable litter tray and a roof top. The outside enclosure fitting snugly over the bottom litter tray, and the bottom litter tray being disposable after several uses. The outside enclosure being made of a water resistant, and odor absorbing material, is re-useable for several bottom litter trays. The enclosure has four indentations, one in each of the four top corners. These indentations are pushed inward to form a support for the separate roof top pieces of the container. Also, four pointed corner structures, at the top of the enclosure provide scratching, and playing objects for the cat. The bottom litter tray contains a unique system of tabs, slots, and creases to fold and lock the tray in a folded position. The tabs are pre-formed, and the slots are pre-cut into the material. The tabs are used to be inserted into the slots to lock the bottom tray in the folded position.

Abstract: A disposable litter box product for pets is provided. The product includes a box having spaced apart, generally flat top and bottom wall sections and a side wall section that interconnects the top and bottom wall sections. A quantity of pet litter is disposed in the box. At least one of the top and side wall sections includes a predetermined edge region that defines an opening into the box. A lid portion is separably joined to the edge region such that the opening is provisionally blocked and the box is closed. At least a part of the lid portion is selectively separable from the edge region to expose the opening and provide access into the box.

Abstract: A method or kit for modifying the excretory behavior of animals such as dogs. It has been discovered that placing .beta.-ionone in a particular location induces dogs to urinate and defecate preferentially at or near that location. Related compounds which may also be useful, in lieu of .beta.-ionone, or as synergists, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A disposable pet litter container is provided with a semi-rigid outer shell having a top wall, side walls, bottom walls and end walls, constructed in a general box-like configuration for containing a supply of granular absorbent material inside. A removable panel formed in the top wall is constructed with an off-set cut to allow the top panel and top wall to delaminate for separation and removal, in order to allow access to the material inside. The off-set cut also prevents leakage of the granular material or dust during shipping or storage. The container has a support structure constructed to fit within the outer shell to provide support and rigidity to the top wall, side walls and corners of the outer shell.

Abstract: A disposable litter box is defined by a foldable closed container and includes a supply of litter. The box is adapted to be unfolded into a unitary litter box having a continuous outer perimeter of even height for defining an open topped litter box for use by pets and the like. After use is completed, the box may be refolded to confine the soiled litter, which may then be readily disposed. Visual indicators are provided to facilitate closing the box.

Abstract: A disposable litter container for pets, usually cats, includes a molded tray of water-absorbent paper material that does not lose appreciable structural strength upon absorption of limited quantities of water. The paper material preferably includes an appreciable wax content. The tray has a bottom wall formed integrally with side walls, enclosing a litter chamber, with the side walls extending upwardly from the bottom wall for a predetermined height greater than the litter chamber height. Lid retainers are molded into the side walls at the top of the chamber. A lid interfits with the lid retainers to seal the top of the litter chamber. There are complementary, interfitting supports on the lid and on the tray that adapt the lid to service as a base for the tray when the lid is removed. The lid can be replaced, when the litter is spent, to re-seal the container for disposal.

Abstract: A foldable litter box which is convertible from a closed position to an open position to form an enclosed receptacle, includes a base, side walls extending from the base, and end walls also extending from the base and perpendicular to the side walls. The side walls and end walls are connected along common boundaries. Diagonal folding axes are provided on the end walls and on at least one side wall to permit the box to convert from the closed to the open position. A top portion extends from one of the side walls to cover the opening at the top of the receptacle in an overlaying manner. The top may be provided with additional panels to form either a flat or a peaked roof. An aperture is further formed in at least one of the side walls or end walls for permitting access to within the receptacle.

The container is extensible from a closed position to an open position, and includes a rectangular tray for litter, and a cover which is releasably attached to the tray when the container is closed. The sides and ends of the cover are collapsible, and bias the container open when the cover is released from the closed position. A pair of rotatable tabs lock the sides open.

Abstract: A disposable animal litter box can be folded into a compact form for storage, shipment, and/or disposal. The pet litter container includes a base made from a first piece of sheet material and an insert made from a second piece of sheet material. The base includes a bottom portion for containing the pet litter, a pair of foldable side panels attached to the bottom portion, and a pair of roof panels attached to the side panels. The insert includes a floor panel which is disposed inside the bottom portion of the base, and a pair of foldable end walls. Together, the base and the insert form an enclosure containing the pet litter.

Abstract: An improved diaper container to temporarily store soiled diapers prior to final disposal thereof which is characterized by an outer fluid impervious shell provided with a removably mounted liner. The liner comprises a pad of non-woven synthetic fibers impregnated with an odor adsorbing material, such as activated carbon. The outer shell is provided with a hinged lid for access to the interior of the container and the liner is slideably mounted within the outer shell in a snug fit with the inner walls of the outer shell. The activated carbon entraps noxous odors within the liner to effectively prevent the odors from escaping from the container when it is opened.

Abstract: A kitty litter box is made of cardboard, plastic or other disposable material and can be folded outwardly to an open position for use as a tray to hold kitty litter or other absorbent material for use by cats, and folded inwardly to a closed box after being used and ready for disposal at which time both the box and its contents are discarded. The two opposite side walls of the box each include a diagonal slit at about the midsection of each side wall with a plurality of score lines or fold lines positioned in relation to each diagonal slit which enable a portion of the midsection of each side wall to flex and fold inwardly when the two outer portions are folded along a pair of spaced apart lateral score lines or fold lines in the bottom wall. The two outer portions are folded or pivoted in an arcuate path toward each other whereby one of the outer portions of the box is received within the opposite outer portion. The bottom has a pair of side guards pivotally secured to the bottom walls. A pair of clips that are complementary to the side guards are provided and secured to the top interior. The clips receive the side guards when the top and the side guards are vertical. A liner bag is in the bottom and covers the side guards. Cat litter is in the bottom and the side guards can fold into the bottom and rest on the cat litter and the top can rest on the side guards. A latch locks the top to the bottom. The bottom has a handle on its exterior.

The litter box has a lower portion to hold cat litter and an expandable upper portion which completely encloses the cat litter except for providing an opening for ingress and egress of the cat. A removable mesh-type litter bag is provided which can be simply removed and thrown away when the litter box is full to renew the same for additional use. A charcoal filter can be provided to control odors.

Abstract: A rectangular box container utilized for the deposition, temporary storage and disposal of pet cat excrement. The box container is pre-loaded with absorbent granular litter material and prior to use is shipped and stored in a compact rectangular state, approximately thirteen (13) inches wide, twenty one (21) inches long and three (3) inches tall. To use, the box unfolds to erect a larger rectangular box chamber, approximately thirteen (13) inches wide, twenty one (21) inches long and thirteen (13) inches tall. The rectangular box chamber, in its erected state, provides an opening through which a cat may enter the box to gain access to the pre-loaded absorbent granular litter material inside the box and, after use, exit the box. The container may be used in this erected state to its useful capacity, after which the container is folded down for compact disposal.

Abstract: A pet animal excrement absorbing, disposable litter material container for placement of a supporting surface comprises a foldable side-wall structure without inherent leakage sealing characteristics and employs an impermeable membranous sheet as a barrier seal as well as for disposal of excrement and contaminated litter material. A rectangularly erect assembled state is maintained through balanced folding moment forces at each corner or by folding stiffening panels having squared ends which fit inside of adjacent side-wall sections. The components all fold to make a flat package for commercial distribution.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a waste disposal system which includes a generally rigid support skeleton defining an interior space configured to receive refuse and a flexible, bag-like member supported by, and enclosing therewithin the support skeleton. The waste disposal system may be advantageously configured to provide a litter box for felines and the like.

Abstract: A litter marketing, use and disposal box assembly is provided of generally rectangular shape and the upper marginal edges of the sides and ends of the box include upwardly and outwardly inclined flaps joined together by integral inwardly foldable corner portions. After the box has been used, the side and end flaps may be folded inwardly over the top of the box to close the same and the side and end flaps include coacting structure for sealing the closed box against leakage of litter material therefrom, one side of the box including an outwardly projecting handle supported therefrom whereby the used and sealed closed box may be readily transported to a point of refuse disposal.

Abstract: A disposable canine lavatory is provided and consists of a foldable thin waterproof box shaped with a base member that will catch excrement from a dog so that the lavatory with the excrement therein can be disposed of. A deflection member which is integral with the base member will direct urine from a male dog into the base member for easy disposal thereof.

Abstract: An economical, disposable, container serving as an indoor toilet facility for household cats and formed of bio-degradable and/or recyclable components is disclosed. The foldable paper container has an internal, moisture impervious, coating and includes an open end, a closed end wall, a top and a bottom wall, and a pair of sidewalls connected to the top, bottom and closed end wall. A barrier wall, integral with the bottom wall, is spaced from the ends of the top and sidewalls and closes a fractional portion of the open end to form an open top compartment within the container. A quantity of granular, absorbent litter material is disposed within the open top compartment. When ready for use the container is unfolded or expanded with end portions of the top and sidewalls being folded back over themselves to assist in maintaining the container in the open position.

Abstract: A disposable device for use as a litter box comprising a blank made of disposable flat material scored and cut in a predetermined pattern to form a receptacle section. The receptacle section has a generally rectangular base and upstanding opposing side walls and end walls and a top closure section including at least two opposing end panels pivotally connected to opposing end walls of the base. The receptacle section is actuatable between a closed position overlying the base, and an open position wherein the side and end panels are upright permitting access to the receptacle section. The corners at the juncture of the side and end panels form foldable portions which are collapsible to pivot inwardly and thereby maintain and lock the side and end panels in an upright, open position.

Abstract: An animal enclosure apparatus adapted to be assembled entirely by a user from a single symmetrically-arranged foldable blank of biodegradable, disposable material. The enclosure apparatus is particularly suited for providing a sanitary kitty litter enclosure which shields the surrounding area from debris and odors. A flap is provided for opening a passageway for an animal to enter and exit the enclosure, and to close the passageway so that the apparatus is entirely sealed for disposal of the exhausted litter.

Abstract: A collapsible disposable cat litter box comprises a collapsible closure means by which the used litter box can be sealed closed quickly for easy disposal. The box comprises a moisture-proof enclosure with collapsible closure means extending from the side walls of the enclosure. The collapsible closure means includes two rigid top panels and two foldable panels. The foldable panels are scored so that they may be pushed inward to close the top of the litter box quickly. The side panels also include a horizontal score line so that the upper portion of the side panels may be folded down to enhance the rigidity of the litter box.

Abstract: A waste disposal system includes a generally rigid support skeleton defining an interior space configured to receive refuse and a flexible, bag-like member supported by, and enclosing therewithin the support skeleton. The waste disposal system may be advantageously configured to provide a litter box for felines and the like.

Abstract: A pasteboard cat litter structure comprising a shallow, rectangular, plastic-lined, box-like base adapted for holding a quantity of cat litter. Attached to the top of the base is a collapsible enclosure shaped like a house. The enclosure comprises first and second opposite end panels which fold downwardly and inwardly along a lower crease line to lie flat atop the base when the enclosure is collapsed. The enclosure further comprises a continuous, central portion made up of first and second side panels and an enclosure roof. The central portion is constructed having two (2) opposing, longitudinal, side creases and a roof crest crease, which permit the central portion to be folded down, bellows-style, on top of the folded-down end panels. A flat, substantially closed structure, about the height of the base is then formed. A lid, similar in shape to the base is provided for covering the folded-down enclosure and base, the base fitting downwardly into the lid when the enclosure is erected.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of one piece foldable boxes in the area of packaging, in particular the use of a single piece foldable and disposable boxes for the packaging of cat litter material. The invention employs a novel cover and hinge member that folds beneath the lower portion of the box for storage. The box effectively seals the contents while in a closed position with double wall thickness and a latching mechanism that doubles as a carrying device on larger boxes. The design permits uniformity of tolerance throughout box sizes and construction materials. The box includes a lower box body (or base), four side walls integrally attached to the base, and a cover (or top) with three sides that is connected to the lower box body by a novel hinge member that creates a fourth side wall to the cover only when the box is in a closed position.

Abstract: A container includes right and left side walls including right and left panels hingedly mounted to upper edges of the side walls. The panels include projecting tabs directed medially and coextensively aligned with rear edges of the panels. The tabs are received within complementarily configured slots formed within a rear panel hingedly mounted to a rear wall of the container. The invention further includes a unitary insert package containing absorbent litter therewithin and an absorbent pad formed to a bottom surface of the insert wherein the pad emits a deodorant upon moisturizing of the pad. The container is also optionally formed of transparent material whereupon positioning upon a support container, permits directing of ultra-violet light interiorly of the container and of the insert to effect sanitizing of litter utilized within the container for enhanced sanitary utilization of the invention.

Abstract: A disposable kitty litter tent with a moisture-resistant cardboard base and a paper tent which may be folded flat against the base for shipment and sale, which also performs deodorizing and flea repellant functions, by use of a thin layer of cedar sawdust secured to the inner walls of the tent by the mild adhesive. The cedar sawdust deodorizes the kitty litter tent against odors generated by cat wastes. The cedar sawdust also gradually rubs off against the cat's fur as the cat moves within the tent, particularly when the cat turns around to exit the single opening in one end of the tent, so that the cat receives a flea repellant benefit even when away from the tent, from the thin layer of cedar sawdust which accumulates upon its fur.

Abstract: An open top, waterproof, cardboard box has an elongated rectangular bottom bordered by side and end panels which extend the length and width, respectively, of the bottom and are joined to form closed corners. Each side panel has a pair of wing portions between which a central portion of the side panel extends, the wing portions being defined by a pair of diagonal fold lines each of which intersects with a corner of the box. The end panels are folded so that they lie nearest the bottom of the box and the side panels are folded over and lie flat against the end panels, the wing portions being folded first with the end panels and then with the side panels whereby the wing portions are finally folded under the central portion of the side panels.

Abstract: A disposable animal commode comprising a six-sided structure having a bottom wall, four side walls and an articulating top wall which is attached to one of the side walls and which may be rotated between a closed position and an open position. When in the closed position, the commode seals so as to substantially retain a litter material and animal waste within the commode. Positioned within the six-sided structure is a height extender which sufficiently extends the height of the side walls of the commode to substantially retain litter material within the commode when in use by an animal. The height extender comprises flaps which rotate between a vertical position and a horizontal position, the edges of the flaps being connected as to form corners which reverse inward upon themselves when the height extender is rotated to the horizontal position.
