When the sliding type door plate needs to be opened, the lifting handle is rotated upwards so that the locking member is separated from the lifting handle, and the lifting handle drives the sliding-type door plate to move upwards along the sliding guide rails.

Utilization of a locking connection mechanism as disclosed makes it very difficult for the ladder to disengage from the bird cage due to rocking caused by a bird. The locking connection mechanisms are releasably connected to the bird cage and bird cage ladder, allowing the bird cage ladder to be easily installed and removed from the bird cage.

The locking device further includes a pair of finger grips which, when squeezed together by a user, cause inward displacement of the locking feet, such that they are removed, or displaced from, the locking slots or loops of the cage. In this “squeezed” position, the door of the bird cage can be pivoted to an “open” position for allowing entry into the cage.
