Rotatable Shaft Patents (Class 119/779)
  • Patent number: 8434429
Abstract: Pet leash assemblies, pet collar assemblies, and methods of using the same. Pet leash assemblies include a tether and a gated clasp coupled to the tether. The gated clasp includes a body, a gate hinged to the body, and a biasing member that pivotally biases the gated clasp to a closed configuration. The gate may include a projection that extends away from the body. When the projection is urged toward a terminal region of the body, the gate is pivoted against a bias of the biasing member and the gated clasp is configured to an open configuration, in which a coupling ring of a collar may be inserted into and removed from a passage defined between the gate and the body. The clasp may include a sliding actuator with a gate-engagement surface positioned to engage and pivot the gate against its bias when the actuator is translated toward the gate.

Abstract: A animal restraint includes a buckle connected at one end to a leash or the like and its other end to a short tether having a D-ring termination. A snap hook with a latching side is easily connected to the restraint. The buckle has two relatively rotary parts which form a bayonet-type connection. The axis of rotation of the buckle parts is perpendicular to the tension axis, so that tension does not tend to undo the buckle.

  • Patent number: 5329883
Abstract: A releasable hitch having a T-shaped body portion including a horizontal member perpendicularly joined to a vertical member is disclosed. The vertical member has opposing side walls, one of which is bisected by an upwardly sloping channel disposed above the horizontal member. The vertical member additionally comprises a horizontally disposed bore disposed the horizontal member. A bolt is fitted for rotational and longitudinal motion within the horizontally disposed bore. The bolt includes a cylindrical shaft having an externally threaded portion at one of its ends and two semicircular flanges, defining a slot therebetween, at the other end thereof. A C-shaped hook is pivotally secured to the semicircular flanges and has a free end adapted for engagement with the lateral channel. A spring, coiled about the cylindrical shaft and acting upon the bolt, normally biases the free end of the hook within the channel.
