  • Patent number: 10925260
Abstract: Disclosed is a buckle for an animal collar and/or leash that is easy to open and close, but at the same time does not open without user intervention. Illustratively, the inventive apparatus comprises a buckle that includes a first clasp member and a second clasp member that form a clasp. Pressure is applied and maintained at the second clasp member to transition the clasp from a closed position to an open position, wherein the second clasp member rotates around a hinge. As the buckle is easy to open and close, the user can conveniently attach the collar or leash to the animal and remove the collar or leash from the animal when it is no longer needed, thus preventing irritation of the animal and build-up of dirt and/or odors. The single-handed operation allows the user to attach and remove the collar or leash efficiently and with minimal effort.

In addition, the handle of the leash shall be of a design which can be unfastened at one end, rendering a single open strap, and refastened using hook-and-loop material to reform the leash handle or to form a larger tie-out loop when fastened through one of the leash body apertures.

Abstract: A collar and leash assembly is provided, comprising a strap, preferably constructed from nylon or similar fabric, having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end includes a first fastener, and wherein the second end includes a second fastener. A loop is formed into the first end of the strap, and the loop is closed adjacent to the first fastener. A third fastener is slidably connected to the loop of the strap, and a fourth fastener is slidably connected to the strap between the loop and the second end. Preferably, a releasable clip is slidably connected to the loop for optional connection to an existing animal collar. The strap can be configured into a long leash, short leash, or collar configuration depending upon the connections between the various fasteners.

  • Patent number: 7690331
Abstract: A nylon or polypropylene cylindrical central braided rope core is wound with an electroluminescent wire to form a pet leash. The electroluminescent wire is powered by a portable power supply attached to the handle of the pet leash causing illumination of the electroluminescent wire continuously or intermittently at a selected blink rate. Alternatively, the wound electroluminescent wire surrounds a cylindrical braided reflective sleeve that covers the central braided rope. The cylindrical braided reflective sleeve reflects incident light back to its source while the electroluminescent illumination is provided. Reflection and illumination of light are omnidirectional. The braided construction of the central core and reflective sleeve, together with the configuration of the electroluminescent wire, resist tensile, twist and torsional forces, enabling reliable emission of omnidirectional illumination and reflectivity.

Abstract: A pet strap includes a pulling unit, a locking unit, and an elastic drawing mounted between the pulling unit and the locking unit and including an elastic inner tube and a weaving outer layer mounted on a surface of the inner tube. Thus, the elastic drawing unit provides a buffering effect to the user to reduce the reaction applied by the pet on the user's hand, thereby preventing the user's wrist from being hurt when the pet is running violently. In addition, the weaving outer layer is enclosed around the inner tube, so that when the inner tube is broken due to an excessive reaction, the inner tube will not being sprung outward, thereby preventing the user from being hurt by the broken inner tube.

Abstract: An elastic dog leash and coupler utilizes brightly colored florescent latex tubing for a major portion of the leash and coupler. The tubing is mounted between rings. A monofilament nylon line is mounted within the tubing and connected to the rings. The monofilament line has a length significantly greater than the unstretched length of the tubing, and limits the degree to which the tubing may be stretched. With respect to the leash, a nonstretchable webbing handle is attached at one end and a stop section of the leash is attached at the other end. The coupler is comprised of a plurality of sections of tubing mounted to a ring, which may be attached to the end of the leash. The other ends of the tubing of the coupler are provided with nonstretchable webbing material which may be utilized as a stop section for the coupler leash. The webbing material may be provided with a reflective stripe for additional safety at night.

  • Patent number: 6851393
Abstract: An animal leash system includes a leash of flexible material having near and far ends, and a belt arranged to be worn about a person's body. A connector is fastened to the belt for operation by the person while wearing the belt. A handle is formed at the near end of the leash, and the handle is engageable with the connector on the belt. The far end of the leash is fastened to an animal collar. An associated restraining strap is fixed to the leash and is arranged for securing about an anchored object such as a tree or post. Thus, the person can (I) secure the restraining strap about the object before disengaging the leash handle from the connector on the belt, and (ii) engage the leash handle with the belt connector before releasing the restraining strap from the object. The animal is therefore always safely restrained either by the person's belt or by the fixed object.
