Extensible Patents (Class 119/798)
  • Patent number: 5749326
Abstract: The animal control lead comprises a length of hollow compliant material (10) and an elastic member (20) retracting the length of hollow compliant material. The length has a first and second, opposite end section. A first handle (30) is located at the first end section and a clasping device (32) at the second end section. The second end section has an optional second handle (30). The lead extends and contracts with application and removal of a tensile force between the end sections. The second handle provides increased control of the animal if needed.

  • Patent number: 5740764
Abstract: A leash including a shock-absorbent substantially elastic lead is disclosed wherein the lead is not shaped like a simple beam, i.e., the lead includes one or more macroscopic concavities along its length. As examples, the lead may be shaped like a C-beam, I-beam, T-beam, or X-beam. The perimeters of the concavities form stiffening ridges which prevent the sagging or drooping of the lead and possible entanglement with the animal's or user's legs. By forming such concavities, material can be removed from the lead without adversely affecting its stiffness. An extender lead for extending the length of preexisting leashes is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5738046
Abstract: A safety jacket and harness system including a body harness formed by a pair of torso bands and a pair of shoulder straps. The torso bands form an upper torso band and a lower torso band. Each torso band has a fastening member that is attached to end portions. The pair of shoulder straps each have a first shoulder strap portion and a second shoulder strap portion. Each shoulder strap portion is coupled together by a fastening member when each shoulder strap is attached to the pair of torso bands. Included is a center strap that is fixedly attached to the pair of torso bands and has a locking member at a top end. A safety strap has a first safety strap end that can couple with the locking member of the center strap, and a second safety strap end that can be looped and fastened around a tree trunk. An escape strap is attached to the safety strap.

  • Patent number: 5732663
Abstract: A stretchable pet leash made of a bungee cord material. Loops forming the hand harness and the means to attach a collar clip are at opposite ends of the leash. Stainless steel wire bindings may encircle the free ends of each loop where it is parallel to the leash's material to hold it thereto. The collar clip may be attached to a pet's collar and the leash material may be made by either the rubber or plastic by the extrusion process.

  • Patent number: 5324220
Abstract: A leash for a bodyboard that includes a coil having a plurality of adjacent loops. The coil expands and contracts, so that the user can become separated from the board and still retrieve the same. The loops form a cylinder that has a longitudinal axis. The coil is attached to the bodyboard so that the longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the surface of the board. The length also has a pair of swivel joints at each end of the coil. The swivel joints are detachable so that additional coils can be added to the existing coil, thereby increasing the length of the leash.
