Patent number: 10427869Abstract: An apparatus used with a sleeve style receptacle to make an animal waste bag holder apparatus. The apparatus includes a cylindrical sleeve, a holder configured to temporarily hold a plastic bag inside the sleeve that includes a bolt that extends through a hole formed on the sleeve, a lock washer that attaches to the shaft to hold the shaft inside the side hole, a flange nut with internal threads that selectively attaches to the end of the shaft configured to press against the outside surface of the cylindrical sleeve. During use, a bag is inserted into the sleeve so the top edge of the bag fold over the sleeve and positioned adjacent to the hole. When the flange nut is tightened on the shaft, it eventually presses against the portion of the bag adjacent to the side hole. When further tightened, the flange nut pulls the portion of the bag around the shaft causing it to tighten around the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2017Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Inventor: Alan Zugel

Patent number: 9089109Abstract: A force transfer harness that utilizes the harness structure to redirect the handler's forces through the harness structure and into the underlying ground is provided. The harness creates a moving support for a handler. Through the act of the dog sitting, the associated dog and handler cause a change in the orientation of the harness legs, both fixed and moveable, and cause the moveable legs to be brought into an angular relationship with the fixed legs that allows the harness to form a support structure. After the dog sits, the harness legs are brought in contact with the ground, whereas previously they were hovering above the ground in a ready orientation. As a result, the dog's act of sitting enables the human to transfer his or her weight through the harness and into the ground.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2013Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Inventors: Daniel Codos, Richard Codos

Patent number: 8544421Abstract: An animal control pole has a first end adapted to be held by a user, and a second end adapted to ensnare and assist in the control of an animal. The pole has an axial bore extending therethrough and a cable that extends through the axial bore and extends from each end of the pole. A retaining element is located at the second end of the pole and retains the free end of the cable that extends from the second end, so as to form a closed animal engageable adjustable loop. The animal control pole includes dual release mechanisms. A first release mechanism releases the free end of the cable that extends through the second end of the pole. A second release mechanism forces an additional length of cable through the axial bore of the second end and thereby increases the size of the loop.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2011Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Animal Care Equipment & Services, LLCInventor: Andrew Katers

Publication number: 20080257279Abstract: A lightweight snake hook includes a hook portion attached to a distal end of a shaft portion. The shaft portion can be a hollow rod of aluminum or fiberglass, and an end of the hook portion can be attached to the hollow end with an epoxy. The hook portion has a profile, such as U-shaped, “recurve,” S-shaped, or rectilinear whereby the profile is substantially congruent with the snake, for supporting the snake. The hook portion is formed from a substantially cylindrical rod of polycarbonate or like material bent into the profile and having a thermal conductivity less than about 4 W/(m·K). The polycarbonate hook portion is lightweight and strong and allows a handler to use the hook on long shafts and with large bodied snakes. Furthermore, the hook portion has a diameter providing a broad base or resting area for the snake. For example, the broad base is beneficial for snakes having delicate ribs, such as the Gaboon Viper.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2008Publication date: October 23, 2008Inventor: Judith Yvonne Jezl
