Abstract: A doubly fed brushless induction starter generator includes a stator and a rotor, which are separated by an air gap. The stator includes stator winding slots, each of which includes a first layer of power windings, a second layer of power windings, and a third layer of control windings, which include 2-pole single-phase windings. The control windings are arranged in the stator winding slots between the air gap and the first and second layers of power windings. Direct current is delivered to control windings in the generator as an excitation current to thereby produce a magnetic flux, through which the stator is moved to produce and alternating current in the power windings as an output current. The output current can be delivered to an electrical load, such as an electrical component on an aircraft.
Abstract: A variable-speed constant-frequency (VSCF) power converter includes a generator control operable to regulate an output voltage of a variable frequency generator at a variable frequency. The VSCF power generator also includes an inverter control operable to regulate a VSCF output voltage at a point-of-regulation at a constant frequency, where the generator control and the inverter control independently control a main line contactor of the point-of-regulation to provide redundant fault protection for an aircraft use.
Abstract: An aircraft may have a fuselage, a left wing extending from the fuselage, a right wing extending from the fuselage, a tail section extending from a rear portion of the fuselage, and a first engine and a second engine operably connected by a common driveshaft, wherein the first and second engines are configured for freewheeling such that if one of the first and second engines loses power the other of the first and second engines continues to power the aircraft.
Abstract: An auxiliary power unit includes a gearbox housing portion and a filter housing portion providing an integral housing. A filter cavity is provided in the filter housing portion. A surface circumscribes the filter cavity. A scupper includes a passage extending from the surface to an opening on an exterior surface of the integral housing. A sealing region between the scupper and the filter cavity is configured to fluidly isolate the scupper and the fuel filter cavity from one another. In one example, the filter cavity receives a fuel filter cartridge. A cap is secured to the filter housing portion and encloses the filter cavity when in a secured position.

Abstract: An engine for a radio control model includes an input axle partially extending out of the engine. A drive device is laterally mounted to the engine for driving the input axle when starting the engine. The driving device includes a first casing and a second casing abutting each other and respectively made of insulating material. At least one drive element is rotatably mounted in the driving device for driving the input axle. A polygonal hole is longitudinally defined in the at least one drive element and adapted to be connected to an extra power source. A conducting ring is sleeved on the at least one drive element and a wire is electrically connected to the conducting ring and a spark plug that is mounted in the engine such that the spark plug sparkles and the input axle provides torsion at the same time for starting the engine.
Abstract: A device for starting a model airplane engine from a starter motor, electric drill or other drive means. The device for starting a model airplane engine comprises a cylindrical hub having an open end and a closed end, the hub having tubular sidewalls attached to periphery edges of the base and extending towards the open end of the hub. The tubular sidewall is provided with two slots. The slots are positioned diametrically opposed across the axis of revolution of the hub. A substantially flat bumper bracket extends outwards from the hub through the slots. The bumper bracket is equipped with elongated side bumpers attached at opposing ends of the bracket, the side bumpers extending forward from the hub and adapted to interface with and torsionally drive a model airplane propeller. The starting device transferring rotary torque from the drive means to the airplane propeller and engine to crank the engine and thereby facilitate starting of the engine.
Abstract: An engine starter includes two motors housed inside a housing, a driven gear wheel meshed between the pinions at the motor shafts of the motors, a first idle gear meshed with an internal gear at the driven gear wheel, a second idle gear coupled to the first idle gear for synchronous rotation, an output gear wheel meshed with the second idle gear, and an output shaft axially extended from the output gear wheel and selectively provided with a socket or starting bar for starting the engine of any of a variety of model vehicles.
Abstract: A hand-held starter apparatus for starting model engines includes a motor, a body supporting the motor, a switching device that activates the motor, and a trigger in communication with the switching device. The body is configured for comfortable gripping by users with large hands and by users with small hands.
