Lever Or Slide Actuates A Gear Segment Patents (Class 123/185.6)
  • Patent number: 10001204
Abstract: A vibration isolation structure of a power unit in which an internal combustion engine is provided with transmissions, including plural transmission gears and a power transmission shaft that pivotally supports the plural transmission gears, and torque dampers are provided between a pair of adjacent transmission gears and the power transmission shaft. The vibration isolation structure can suppress torque fluctuation itself accompanying gearshift and driving reaction force to small fluctuation, and reduce the size of the power unit.

  • Patent number: 8014934
Abstract: A starter drive assembly includes a starter output shaft having a plurality of circumferentially-spaced axial grooves, a clutch assembly, and a barrel assembly. The clutch assembly includes a clutch plate configured to engage the axially grooves of the output shaft such that the output shaft and the clutch plate rotate together during an engine starting operation. The clutch assembly further includes a screw shaft selectively matingly couplable to the clutch plate, wherein the screw shaft is configured to engage the clutch plate during rotation in a first direction and disengage the clutch plate in a second direction such that the screw shaft and the clutch plate rotate together in the first direction. The barrel assembly includes a first end configured to threadably engage the screw shaft, and a second end that includes a pinion gear configured to engage the ring gear during the engine starting operation.

  • Patent number: 7600505
Abstract: A recoil starter for an internal combustion engine has a housing with a pulley carried at least in part for rotation therein. The pulley is arranged in operable communication with a crankshaft of the engine. A pull cord is wound about the pulley with one end of the cord being arranged to be pulled by a user to rotate the pulley. An actuator is carried for rotation in response to rotation of the pulley. A pump is arranged for actuation in response to rotation of the actuator to provide fresh liquid fuel to a carburetor and remove fuel vapor and stale fuel from the carburetor and deliver it to a fuel tank prior to starting the engine.

  • Patent number: 6718926
Abstract: An inside space of a starter motor having a motor, a magnetic switch and a reduction gear train is ventilated through a ventilation passage formed in the starter motor. The ventilation passage includes a labyrinth passage formed at a portion connecting a front housing containing the reduction gear and a center housing containing the motor and the magnetic switch. The labyrinth passage connecting a motor chamber and a switch chamber prevents brush dusts generated in the motor chamber from being scattered in the other spaces. Grease splash from the gear train does not enter into the ventilation passage separated the gear train. Thus, the ventilation passage well functions for a long time without being clogged with the grease, brush dusts or the mixture thereof.

  • Patent number: 6247439
Abstract: To provide a starter for an internal combustion engine which is capable of reducing a press-fit amount of a press-fit portion of a torque absorbing mechanism of a rotation transmitting means for transmitting the rotation of a kick shaft to a crank shaft, thereby enhancing the durability of the starter and making the starter compact. A kick-type starter for an internal combustion engine includes a rotation transmitting mechanism (a kick drive gear, a boss having a ratchet portion, a pinion gear, and an idler gear) for transmitting the rotation of a kick shaft to a crank shaft. The rotation transmitting mechanism is provided with a torque absorbing mechanism for absorbing an excessive torque due to an excessive input from the kick shaft. The torque absorbing mechanism is provided on the kick shaft, and includes a gear set composed of the boss having the ratchet and the pinion gear which are press-fitted to each other.
