  • Patent number: 10487728
Abstract: A combustion chamber for rotary engine includes an inner chamber having a spherical interior wall surface and including a left-half and a right-half chamber tightly connected together; and an outer casing including an upper cover, a lower cover and a locating plate. The left-half chamber has an intake pipe arranged on a left end thereof and a spark-plug mounting pipe perpendicularly extended from a right end thereof; and the right-half chamber has an exhaust pipe arranged on a right end thereof. The upper and lower covers are fitted onto upper and lower sides of the inner chamber, respectively; and the locating plate is provided with a central opening for the spark-plug mounting pipe to extend therethrough. The upper and lower covers and the locating plate are screw-fastened together to form the complete outer casing, such that the inner chamber is confined in the outer casing to maintain an integral state.

  • Publication number: 20040231635
Abstract: A rotary engine having a housing and a first and second intersecting cavity disposed therein is described. A rotor is mounted for rotation in the first cavity, and the housing and the rotor define an annular chamber between the rotor and the walls of the first cavity. The rotor includes a piston extending from the rotor into the annular chamber. A first valve, mounted for rotation in the second cavity includes a recess sized to receive the piston during a rotation of the rotor. At least one passage extends between the second cavity and the annular chamber. The passage includes an open portion formed in the cylindrical wall surface of the second cavity and an enclosed portion extending through the housing and connecting the open portion of the passage to the annular chamber at a point downstream of the second cavity with respect to the direction of rotation of the valve. The open portion of the passage extends for at least 20 degrees around the circumference of the wall surface of the second cavity.

  • Patent number: 5803041
Abstract: An internal combustion engine in which linear, reciprocating motion of pistons is translated to rotary motion of a cylinder. In another embodiment, the pistons are in the form of V-shaped blades which bear against a camming surface to rotate an outer housing relative to an inner stator. Applications of this engine include use in tunnelling and well-drilling machines, pump motor for centrifugal and radial vane pumps, locomotives, marine propulsion, air craft including piloted aircraft, and heavy machinery.

  • Patent number: 5220893
Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine includes a stationary housing having one or more housing slots extending to a housing interface surface and a rotor, having one or more rotor slots extending to a rotor interface surface turning adjacent to the housing interface surface. A piston and an adjacent vane are slidably mounted in each housing slot, and an intake valve is included to open each housing slot to an intake port. A spark plug is mounted in an outer surface angularly adjacent to each housing slot. The rotor includes cam surfaces to impart motion to each intake valve, piston, and vane. As each rotor slot moves adjacent to each housing slot, a vane is moved into the rotor slot and an intake valve is opened. A mixture of air and fuel floods the space of housing and rotor slots outside the piston on one side of the extended vane, while exhaust gasses from previous combustion are forced out of the space on the opposite side of the extended vane, through an exhaust port, by the motion of the rotor.
