Abstract: A fireplace cover comprising a generally flat and flexible panel; a first slot disposed in the panel along the first side edge, wherein the first slot is adapted for receiving a removable first magnetic bar; a second slot disposed in the panel along the second side edge, wherein the second slot is adapted for receiving a removable second magnetic bar; a third slot disposed in the panel along the top edge, wherein the third slot is adapted for receiving a third magnetic bar; and a fourth slot disposed in the panel along the bottom edge, wherein the fourth slot is adapted for receiving a fourth magnetic bar.

Abstract: A fireplace comprised of a burning chamber having an opening to a room and a vertically lifting door having a top edge, a bottom edge and opposing side edges. The door narrows in width from the top edge to the bottom edge to provide a keystone-shaped door. A frame is fitted in front of the burning chamber. The frame includes guide tracks configured to accept the edges of the door. A drive mechanism is provided to raise and lower the door within the guide tracks. The guide tracks may further incorporate a high temperature gasket to prevent airflow and promote energy efficiency when the door is closed.

Abstract: A combination of a fireplace and a decorative removable cover therefor is provided. The fireplace may include an enclosure having a front access opening and a frame positioned within the front access opening. Further, the decorative removable cover may include an opaque substrate and decorative indicia thereon. The opaque substrate may have a size and shape to be received within the front access opening of the fireplace. The cover may also include at least one fastener for removably attaching the opaque substrate to the frame within the front access opening of the fireplace for display of the decorative indicia.

Abstract: A fireplace opening closure for closing the front opening of a fireplace when the fireplace is not in use. The fireplace opening closure includes a generally rectangular board with front and back faces, top and bottom edges, and a pair of side edges extending between the top and bottom edges of the board. The edges of the board are inserted into the longitudinal slots of a plurality of elongate edging members including top and bottom edging members and a pair of side edging members.

Abstract: Disclosed is a window construction for a heater, which generally has a frame and at least one panel fitted on the frame. The frame and the at least one panel are usually made of different materials having different expansion coefficients. An expansion compensator made of bimetallic material is provided to the window located between the frame and a distal portion of the at least one panel to otherwise contact the frame. The expansion compensator compensates the differential expansions occurring between the frame and the at least one panel as the heater temperature changes.

Abstract: A frame assembly (10) for a fireplace opening (12) comprises a frame member (24) and a clip (26). The frame member (24) includes segments (28, 30, 32, and 34) of discrete length that are fitted to sidewall portions (14, 16, 18, and 20) of the fireplace opening (12). The frame member (24) has semicircular channel (46) and an access opening (48) to the channel that are directed longitudinally along the length of the frame member (24). The clip (26) includes a lip (72) that is sized to be received within the semicircular channel (46) of the frame member (24), the clip (26) being slidable or otherwise positionable at desired locations along the length of any of the segments (28, 30, 32, and 34). The clip (26) extends outwardly from the frame member (24) for attachment to the sidewall portions (14, 16, 18, and 20) of the fireplace opening ( 12) by a fastener (90) that extends through an aperture (76) in the clip (26).

Abstract: A prefabricated zero clearance fireplace includes a combustion chamber having a front opening, a glass door sized and shaped for positioning over and sealing the opening and a guide system for guiding vertical movement of the door between a lowered position over the opening and a raised position. The guide system includes tracks that are inwardly offset at their lowermost ends so that the door seals the combustion chamber without friction as the door is raised and lowered. Counterweights permit the door to be easily raised and lowered. For safety, the counterweights cause the door to automatically raise if it is pushed outwardly from the inside. The door is hinged for pivoting outwardly about a vertical axis in the lowered position. An optional motor can be provided for raising and lowering the door. A convection chamber surrounding the combustion chamber permits circulation and heating of room air.

Abstract: A semi-frameless door, per se, and in combination with a firebox opening and the like, utilizes a specially configured spacer frame to seal inner and outer glass panes and also, if desired, the firebox opening. Retainer plates affixed only to the outer glass ends and the spacer frame permits the outer pane to be curved with longitudinally extending exposed edges flush with the edge of the spacer frame to create a full glass covering of the opening. The glass size differences and black colored spacer frame create a size illusion and a shadow glow reflection when viewing the fire in the firebox. Inner retainer plates sealing the inner glass to the inside surface of the spacer frame have lip edges which are forced into contact with a fibrous seal disposed in a channel configuration within the opening when the door is latched to insure sealing of the opening should the door hinge ever loosen during extended use.

Abstract: A double walled fireplace insert is shown with an inner firebox and an outer shell to provide convection air channels between the parallel walls of the inner and outer units. A front panel is integral with the outer shell, and it covers the front of the insert. This front panel has room air intake vents that open into the said air channels, and warmed air outlet vents that open into the room to be heated by this fireplace. There is a circulating fan positioned within the convection air channels for governing the air movement through the said channels.
