    Abstract: A store having a parallelepiped-shaped combustion chamber and a parallelepiped-shaped flue chamber smaller in all dimensions than the combustion chamber and with four similar shaped flue outlet frames on the top, rear and sides thereof. The stove includes one flue outlet collar and three blanking plates which can be fitted in any chosen arrangement to the flue outlet frames. The stove has a lift-off hob giving access to the flue chambers even when the flue outlet collar is fitted in the top outlet frame. The fire door occupies the full frontal area of the combustion chamber and the side walls are each formed in two parts of substantially uniform section. The combustion chamber base has sinuous finning.

    Abstract: A fireplace has an imperforate dished fire-pan, the sloping sides of which support the fire, which radiates through an opening in the wall of a conical enclosure superposed on the fire-pan. An outer frustoconical casing in most cases surrounds the enclosure, with an opening in register with the opening in the disclosure, and defines an air circulation space through which air circulates upwardly from beneath the fire-pan up into the room. A duct from the exterior of the room to be heated may extend into the space beneath the fire-pan, which space may also contain a water pan to humidify the circulating air. A fire control member is rotatable between the enclosure and the casing so as optionally to obturate the openings therein with either a mesh fire screen or a plate closing off the openings. The fireplace aims to provide complete and controllable combustion of wood fuel, and efficient space heating and, optionally, ventilation of a room in which it is situated.

    Abstract: A high efficiency grate and stove heating unit for extracting useful heat from a fire, comprising in combination a low metal enclosure having an expansive top wall constituting a grate proper for supporting fireplace logs and the coals resulting therefrom, together with multiple heat exchangers in the form of plates or corrugation ribs on the top wall and means to cradle the logs thereof. Other plates or corrugation ribs extend downward from the top wall, and the plates can abut the bottom enclosure wall to constitute a reinforcement means. In one embodiment of the invention the enclosure includes an air inlet port connected with an electric blower for forcing air into the enclosure, together with multiple outlet ports from which the air, now heated, flows. A series of forward protruding nozzles is carried by the enclosure and communicates with the outlet ports to channel the heated air in directions away from the enclosure and its inlet port.

The fire box includes draft air inlet structure opening through the bottom wall thereof and flue gas outlet structure opening upwardly through the top wall thereof. The lower portion of the fire box includes horizontally outwardly projecting seat structure extending peripherally about at least all but one peripheral wall portion of the fire box and a downwardly opening hollow plenum box including upstanding peripheral walls and a top wall is also provided with the plenum box being removably downwardly telescoped over the fire box and with the lower portions of the peripheral walls of the fire box seated against and in at least reasonably good air sealed engagement with the seat structure and with the corresponding peripheral walls and top walls of the fire box and plenum box disposed in spaced relation defining a heating chamber therebetween.

    Abstract: An inner shell is incorporated within an outer shell and is of smaller dimensions to provide side spaces for the upward flow of heat, a top space communicating with an outlet, and a rear space having a V-shaped baffle therein causing upward flow of heat in the rearward area to be circulated and slowed for increased heating efficiency. An extension is attachable to the baffle for extending it upwardly and forwardly to control the flow of heat at the baffle. The inner shell has an imperforate tray extending from side to side and arranged to be moved forwardly through an opening in the inner shell and providing a natural forced flow of heat around it from the bottom for heating room areas.

    Abstract: A wood burning stove for providing heated air to a room or similar area includes a fire chamber, a hearth in the forward portion of the fire chamber, draft inlet means at the front of the fire chamber and a flue at the rear of the fire chamber. Between the hearth and the flue is an enclosed air chamber having front and rear walls; the air chamber communicates at its bottom with the ambient air and at its top with one or more air pipes which extend to the front of the stove and there open to the ambient air. A baffle plate is positioned between and spaced from the air chamber and the flue. Ambient air is heated by passing it through the air chamber and air pipes after they have been heated by hot gases rising from a fire burning on the hearth; the hot gases contact the air pipes and the front wall of the air chamber and, because their normal path of travel to the flue is altered by the baffle plate, contact the rear wall of the air chamber as well.

    Abstract: The stove combustion chamber is lined with a layer of refractory material. Above this a baffle extends at an angle upwardly from the rear wall of the stove part way toward its front wall. Three tubular heat exchangers open at their forward ends on a grill on the front of the stove, and extend rearwardly over the combustion chamber and baffle to a duct mounted on the rear of the stove. The refractory material and baffle help retain heat in the stove to keep the heat exchange tubes warm, and a blower, which is connected to the duct and is controlled by a thermostat, blows warm air from inside the tubes outwardly through the grill into the room containing the stove.

    Abstract: A stove having a combustion chamber surrounded by four sides and a top and having a warm air conduit extending between opposite sides and opening outwardly of at least one of the sides. Where the stove is to utilize natural convection, the conduits open outwardly of both the sides of the enclosure. An opening is provided in the top or bottom of the warm air conduit remote from its outlet or outlets for effecting draft thereto. A preferred embodiment has two such heating conduits at right angles to each other and with an opening therebetween to further increase draft through the conduits. In the case of forced convection, the conduits need only open from one of the sides.

A circulating fan is positioned behind a louvered front panel so that cold room air is drawn thereinto and directed upwardly and rearwardly by fan shaped baffles on the underside of the fire plate. The cold air is heated through the fire plate by heat within the fireplace and the heated air is returned to the room through the louvered panel.
