Abstract: Techniques for implementing a support garment with at least one support assembly to provide lateral support to a body part, such as the male genitalia. The techniques may be used to provide immobility of the male genitalia following surgical or therapeutic procedures. A support garment for providing support to a male genitalia includes a lower torso portion including an interior surface and an exterior surface. The lower torso portion further includes a groin portion and at least one support assembly extending alongside at least a portion of a male genital region.

Abstract: An undergarment is provided having a support system configured to comfortably support a male wearer's genitalia throughout aggressive athletic movements. Inside of the undergarment, an internal pocket is formed by a generally H-shaped insert that holds the male wearer's genitalia in a forward position and keeps the wearer's genitalia aligned with the internal portion of the athletic cup positioned at the front of the undergarment. Additionally, the H-shaped insert positions the male wearer's genitalia away from their legs, providing increased support and comfort for the wearer. A cross-wall defining the back of the internal pocket holds the wearer's genitalia to prevent it from dropping backward or downward, and presses against the wearer's perineum at its top edge to further aid in creation of a barrier that even further reduces the risk of chaffing.

Abstract: A suture passing instrument including an operation handle, a needle member, and a suture holder assembly. The operation handle has at least one actuator movable between a first position and a second position. The needle member extends from the operation handle. The needle member has a curved end portion and defines an eyelet extending therethrough. The suture holder assembly extends from the operation handle and has a movable suture carrier at a distal end configured to hold a suture. The movable suture carrier has a suture pusher telescopically and movably received in the movable suture carrier. The suture carrier is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The suture pusher is movable beyond the suture carrier to carry the suture through the eyelet.

Abstract: A thin disposable insert for adherence onto the crotch portion of a female undergarment for reducing pressure otherwise transferred from the undergarment to the external genital organs of the female is referred to as a panty guard. An anatomically correctly shaped pelvic organ support included within or adhered to the panty guard provides three dimensional support to the pelvic floor of a female. The pelvic organ support and the thin disposable insert provide a barrier between the female pelvic organs and abrasive fabrics of the undergarment. The pelvic organ support provides a porous space between tight-fitting non-breathable undergarments and the genitalia of the wearer, allowing air to flow across the wearer's skin. The panty guard with a pelvic organ support to prevent infection, lacerations, pelvic floor prolapse, and incontinence.

Abstract: An integrally molded, multi-part athletic protector with a rigid upper core cup, a semi-rigid lower scrotal bridge joined to the lower edge of the rigid core cup and adapted for both longitudinal and lateral flexion, and a flexible marginal cushion lining the interior surfaces of the core cup and scrotal bridge with a rolled peripheral edge contoured to the user's body.

Abstract: This application describes an apparatus providing groin relief, which comprises, an undergarment which comprises a brief portion having an opening to allow male groin anatomy to extend through, and a boxer portion. The brief portion is inserted into the boxer portion so that the outer edges of the brief portion and the inner edges of the boxer portion are aligned, the brief portion is generally elastic, and an edge along the opening of the brief portion comprises elastic trim.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of treating dermatologic pruritis. The skin involved with purities is covered with an organic cloth in order to make it more difficult to scratch. The contact of the organic cloth not only makes it difficult to scratch but adds a soothing feel thus lessening the tendency to need to scratch.

Abstract: The present invention is a protective garment underpants having a first liner pad having a foam and polyester layers in the crotch to buttocks area and a second liner pad having an absorbent material and open cell foam layer useful for a male and a second garment for females and children where the absorbent layer is replaced by a pad similar to the first liner pad. The polyester layer and the absorbent material layer each have a directional nap running from the back of the garment forward.

A low friction zone is arranged between the topsheet and the topsheet-facing surface in an area where said topsheet is not attached to the topsheet-facing surface, or a sheet is secured at a portion of its periphery to the topsheet and the low friction zone is placed above the topsheet. These arrangements alleviate skin damage.

Abstract: An athletic cup that is convertible from a hard cup configuration to a soft cup configuration. The hard cup configuration can be used for contact sports or ball sports where maximum protection is needed. The cup can be converted to the soft cup configuration for non-contact sports where a lesser degree of protection is adequate. The cup comprises a hard cup and a soft cup that are detachably connected to each other to form the hard cup configuration. To convert to the soft cup configuration, the hard cup is detached and the soft cup is worn by itself.

Abstract: The post circumcision diaper has an integrated protective cup situated between the outer fluid-impervious and inner absorbent layers of the diaper's front portion. The protective cup is constructed of plastic and forms an area of the diaper that is convex outward and concave inward to protect the penis of a recently circumcised baby boy from both direct and incidental pressure. In an alternative embodiment, the post circumcision diaper is formed from a protective cup that is configured for aftermarket attachment to the inside of a commercially available disposable or cloth diaper. In this embodiment, the protective cup has adhesive on its outer surface and a layer of absorbent material on its inner surface.

Abstract: An athletic protector cup having a resilient member with an inner surface faceable toward a body of a wearer, an outer surface, a first flex panel, and a second flex panel. The athletic protector cup also has a rigid member having an inner surface coupled to the outer surface of the resilient member, the rigid member also having an anchor portion along an outer edge coupled to the resilient member. The outer edge of the rigid member is shaped correspondingly to the first flex panel and the second flex panel of the resilient member.

Abstract: A male x-ray radiation protector for protection of the male reproductive system against x-ray radiation, including a curved, pear-shaped penial shield for covering the glans penis, and having either a waist or thigh straps attached to the upper section of the penial shield for supporting the x-ray radiation protector on the wearer's torso. The male x-ray radiation protector further includes a flexible, T-shaped testes shield for covering the male testes area, and having thigh straps attached thereto for supporting the testes shield on the wearer's torso. The testes shield is removably attached to the lower section of the penial shield for use separately or together.

Abstract: A non-contacting shield for use in the perineal area, comprising a main body maintained a distance from the perineal area by two lateral panels which fold generally perpendicularly relative to the main body. The lateral panels, preferably expanded or padded along the outer portion, are positioned adjacent the inner thighs and occupy the pockets formed by the juncture of the thighs and pelvis. The lateral panels are arcuate and the main body is composed of a flexible material to allow it to conform to the shape of the perineal area.

Abstract: A protective appliance to be worn by an individual for protecting a body part of the individual, which body part is covered by a piece of clothing, includes an inner shell part of a generally convex configuration to be arranged such that one side of the inner shell part is covered by the piece of clothing at the body part of the individual. Abstract: A new and improved thigh and leg alignment apparatus includes a pants assembly which includes a first inner thigh portion adapted to be located above a wearer's knee when the pants assembly is worn. A first leg portion is adapted to be located below a wearer's knee when the pants assembly is worn. Also, the pants assembly includes a second inner thigh portion adapted to be located above a wearer's knee when the pants assembly is worn; and a second leg portion is adapted to be located below a wearer's knee when the pants assembly is worn. The first inner thigh portion is opposed to the second inner thigh portion, and the first leg portion is opposed to the second leg portion. A first inner thigh pocket is connected to the first inner thigh portion of the pants assembly, and a first inner thigh cushion is placed in the first inner thigh pocket.

Abstract: A garment in the general form of an improved athletic supporter includes a genital pouch depending from and attached to a waist band. The pouch comprises a front panel and a rear panel, joined at the bottom to form an open-top pocket. The respective top portions of the front and rear panels are provided with releasable fastening means, preferably hook-and-loop fasteners, so that the pocket can be selectively closed and reopened. A packet containing a chilling medium, such as ice, and conforming to the pocket, is inserted into the pocket. When the garment is worn with the chilling medium packet installed in the pocket, the chilling medium is held in close proximity to a surgical site or a site of mild trauma in the scrotal or inguinal area, thereby affording a degree of relief from pain and inflammation. The pouch offers genital support and limits the movement of the genitals, thereby reducing strain that can exacerbate the pain and inflammation and inhibit healing.

Abstract: A user-worn protective body appliance to prevent injury to the underlying region of the wearer's body includes a relatively rigid shield and a relatively flexible, compressible pad. The pad has a first surface to which the rigid shield is attached, and a second surface against which the body region to be protected is to be placed. The rigid shield is generally dome-shaped with such curvature as to force the relatively flexible pad, upon its attachment thereto, to assume a contour approximating that of the body region to be protected. An appropriate adhesive is applied to a limited, central portion on the second surface for securing the appliance to the body region of the wearer. In contrast, the opposite end portions on the second surface do not contain any adhesive.

Abstract: A pair of male shorts, particularly for small boys, having a protective cup supporter or pocket sewn in the undergarment itself. The shorts are the type which have three triangular spaced apart apertures which surround three different parts of the wearer's body and grip such parts of the body tightly enough for the three to enhance the ability of the undergarment to stay in place when the weight of a protective athletic cup is added to the undergarment. The three apertures of the undergarment are the elastic waistband and two elastic leg openings which grip the waist and both legs. A triangular pocket is sewn on the inside front of the pair of shorts, open along its upper edge to receive a conventional protective cup which is usually held in place by an athletic supporter or jock strap. Snaps or other fasteners are provided to close the pocket when the protective cup has been placed therein.

Abstract: A post-operative pliable protector device for the hallux or big toe of a patient has a cushion pad with at least a portion thereof adapted to encircle the toe and formed with separable fastener (of the type marketed by Velcro, USA, Manchester, N.H.) having its loop-type fabric component fastened to and covering the backside of the pad and a strip of its hook-type fabric component fastened onto the front side of the pad across one end of the pad portion. A stiffening stay strip member may be fastened transversely across the backside of the pad portion at a location thereon generally medially between its opposite ends. The cushion pad may also have a rearwardly extending portion for encircling and fastening around the forefoot as by a similar hook/loop type separable fastener.

Abstract: An undergarment is provided for wear by men during work or recreation activities in the style of a pair of boxer type shorts. A partitioning liner is secured at the inside of the shorts and includes a cup portion adjacent to the front of the shorts. The cup portion is slotted or open in the front to form first and second partitions for positioning in the clefts on either side of the groin of the wearer to prevent chafing. A first panel of gusset secures the first partition to a first location on one side of the front of the shorts. A second panel or gusset secures the second partition to a second location on the other side of the front of the shorts spaced from the first location. A third panel secures the bottom of the liner to the crotch of the shorts. The independent suspension or coupling of the partitioning liner assures that the partitions remain securely in place without riding up and down with the shorts.
