Foot/toe (e.g., Corn, Bunion, Etc.) Patents (Class 128/893)
  • Patent number: 5181914
Abstract: A medicating device for human nails and adjacent tissue which, in the preferred embodiment, includes a transparent viscoelastic gel pad having one or more pharmacologically-active substances incorporated therein; a sheet of transparent, impermeable, and elastic material providing an occlusive layer adjacent to the upper surface of the viscoelastic gel pad; an elastic retaining ring perimetrically surrounding the viscoelastic gel pad to prevent migration due to shoe pressure; and a porous meshwork attached to the elastic retaining ring so as to additionally anchor the gel pad from migration. The porous meshwork member may be located at the surface of the viscoelastic gel pad opposite the occlusive covering sheet, or may run through the viscoelastic gel pad in its anchoring function.

  • Patent number: 4917112
Abstract: A transparent bandage for substantially sealing a wound consisting of a semi-rigid frame for defining an opening and a resilient transparent membrane member substantially covering the opening in order to form a transparent window. The transparent material is such that air and vapors can permeate the material in a first direction and contaminants and fluids are prevented from entering the wound area from an opposite direction. A flap can be secured to the frame such that a user cannot see any of the wound covered by the transparent material when the flap is closed. Several embodiments of the invention are shown consisting of different shapes for different medical needs. A third and fourth embodiment are included for holding tracheal or other types of tubes to a patient such that the area around which the tube is inserted can be readily observed.

  • Patent number: 4901714
Abstract: A layer of plastic, either in film or coating form, is bonded to a sheet of non-woven material to form a base. When film is used, it is preferably smaller in size than the non-woven material and affixed to the top surface thereof by an acrylic adhesive. The plastic film is coated, on its exposed surface, with a layer of acrylic adhesive. When the plastic is in the form of a coating, it is bonded to the bottom surface of the non-woven material. A superabsorbent pad, smaller in size than the base, is wrapped in non-woven material and affixed to the base by the exposed adhesive layer. The remaining portion of the exposed adhesive layer forms a border around the superabsorbent pad for adhering the bandage to the skin.

  • Patent number: 4877018
Abstract: A device for deodorizing and drying a portion between toes used by putting it between toes. The device comprises two rod-shaped flexible fibrous elements or layers formed of a large number of fibers disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of said layers, an air- and water-permeable flexible shell member being wound around said flexible fibrous layers such that a cavity is formed between the upper fibrous layer and the lower fibrous layer, and particulate substances having a hygroscopic function being housed in said cavity in a quantity corresponding to a part of a volume of said cavity.

  • Patent number: 4821743
Abstract: An ankle-joint brace is formed as a tube of a heat-shapable synthetic resin formed along its full length on one side with a throughgoing entry slot. The tube is sufficiently deformable that the slot can be spread widely enough to accommodate a patient's ankle region. This slot allows the flexible brace to be opened up enough to be removed. The tube is further formed with a heel seat complementary to the patient's heel and a sole part extending forwardly from the heel seat and complementary to the distal surface of the patient's instep. In addition it is formed with an instep part complementary to the proximal surface of the patient's instep, bounding part of the slot, and joined on the side opposite the slot to the sole part. Opposite the slot the tube is formed with a window accommodating the respective prominence of the patient's calcaneous and the slot is widened similarly to accommodate the respective prominence of the patient's calcaneous.

  • Patent number: 4769854
Abstract: A single piece of medium thickness and quality leather trimmed into a shape which allows for a first portion to be wrapped tightly around the ankle covering the lower leg and for a second portion to be wrapped tightly around the foot covering the instep. The two wraps are held tight by joining separate sets of loop pile and cooperative hook fastener strips which are sewn to the leather. The ankle portion is dressed by placing the inside strip of the ankle fastener facing outward on the outside of the ankle and rotating the wrap around the backside, inside and front side of the ankle overlapping the beginning point where the outside strip of the fastener is joined to the inside strip. The foot portion is dressed by placing the inside strip of the foot fastener facing outward on the outside of the foot and rotating the wrap around the bottom side, inside and topside of the foot overlapping the beginning point where the outside strip of the fastener is joined to the inside strip.
