Even for those with a straight hair type, the curved hair teeth work with the hair shaft, instead of plowing through the hair and ripping hair strands away. Thus, its use reduces or eliminates hair breakage, tangles and tears. The detangling hair comb makes the impossible possible with now easy to maintain healthy hair and scalp for all hair types, including those of the artificial or synthetic hair market. The detangling hair comb may also be used on animals to produce a stress-free grooming experience.

A blade guiding portion is positioned at the neck area and a blade assembly is pivotably connected to the blade guiding portion. The blade assembly consists of a blade with a front part having a set of teeth. The method comprising the steps of placing the blade in engagement with the pet, so that the front part with the teeth is positioned at an acute angle to the coat; and maintaining engagement of the blade with the pet to cause the blade to glide over a contour of the pet's body to engage and pull out hair from the pet.
