With Hair Smoothing Bar Or Pin Patents (Class 132/124)
  • Patent number: 7628160
Abstract: A tool for use in a hair color or other treatment foiling method, comprising an elongated panel at one end of the tool for supporting foil and hair during a coloring procedure or other treatment. The panel comprises a comb portion on one side thereof with a curved tooth at the end of the panel adjacent to the comb portion. A handle portion is secured to the panel and is tapered inwardly toward the other end of the tool. An elongated pick extends outwardly from the handle portion at the other end of the tool for separating, weaving and preparing hair to be colored or treated. In the method of the present invention, the tool is used with a hair coloring or treatment tool kit comprising a flexible support such as an apron having a plurality of pockets for removably supporting all of the components required for performing a hair color foiling method or other hair treatment.

  • Patent number: 6684887
Abstract: A hair separator and fluid applicator that includes a central handle portion, a parting portion disposed adjacent the central handle portion, and an applying portion disposed adjacent the central handle portion opposite the parting portion. The parting portion includes a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end being disposed opposite the central handle portion and generally narrowing from the proximal end to the distal end. The parting portion also may include a generally concave face. The applying portion includes a blade. The blade includes dimples or holes designed to increase the ability of less-viscous fluids or cremes to remain adhered to the surface of the blade. The applying portion may also include teeth disposed along a distal portion for assisting in the application and directional smoothing of the hair during use. The channels between the teeth may vary in shape, including (for example) being half-circular, ovular or rectangular in shape.

  • Patent number: 5575297
Abstract: A generally hand-shaped hair styling device for independently retaining a plurality of separate sections of hair, comprising a rigid frame assembly comprising a curved rigid base with a plurality of adjacent elongated rigid members joined to and arising in a perpendicular manner from the curved rigid base in such a manner that slots are formed between the adjacent elongated members, each of the slots being of sufficient height and width to accommodate and retain a section of hair containing multiple strands of hair, the section consisting of a sufficient number of strands of hair as to be suitable for braiding, wherein the slots contain adjacent resilient surfaces in close proximity to each other, thereby enhancing the ability of the device to retain the sections of the hair.

  • Patent number: 5240017
Abstract: The invention shows a comb for the formation of braids and similar hairstyles in professional hairdressing. One embodiment is a comb, having teeth of a spaced pattern common in the trade; extending out from the back of the comb, for a substantial distance along the back of the comb is a flat, flexible bar, spaced a distance from the comb. Preferably, the spacing is tapered, being narrower at the point of attachment of the bar to the comb. This forms a tapered space for holding a section of hair, and aids in retaining the section of hair by the comb, permitting a hairdresser to separate a section of hair into the space, and then allow the comb to hang free. In a second version of the comb, the flexible bar is in the form of a spring, a curved flexible bar fastened to one end of the comb, and extending in for form of a looped curve along the back to a pivot pin at the other end of the comb; the bar then is curved around the pin and extends back a distance along the comb to form the hair braid retention space.

  • Patent number: 5012830
Abstract: A method for facilitated precision cutting of hair by one handed sectioning, combing and locking of hair into position for cutting and a device for effecting the method. The device comprises a combination of comb, sectioning and locking members arranged such that it provides for the rapid one handed sequential hairstyling functions of sectioning, combing and uniform locking of hair in position for cutting, clipping or trimming without the necessity of constant comb and finger manipulation and movement. A short comb, adapted to comb a straight portion of hair, is combined with a thin tapered elongated sectioning and locking bar. The comb and bar are hingedly connected and are movable relative to each other by use of a single hand and finger manipulation.

  • Patent number: 4108186
Abstract: A styling comb having teeth of different root depths such that the depth of the root space between adjacent teeth alternately varies between shallow and deep thereby forming a natural separation of the strands of hair as the comb is drawn through hair on a subject's head. A slide slides along a base or handle of the comb such that it may be slid by thumb contact of the same hand in which the operator grasps the comb. A finger is secured to the slide and designed such that it extends longitudinally along a side face of the comb between the shallow and deep root spaces between comb teeth such that the finger will segregate hair strands lying in the deep root spaces of the comb when the slide member is slid into position.
