Publication number: 20140069453Abstract: An apparatus for dressing hair with a first comb 1 having a longitudinal axis X1, including a plurality of teeth 1.1 with a width B1 offset from each other in the direction of the longitudinal axis X1 by a gap L1 and oriented in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X1, and a second comb 2 having a longitudinal axis X2, including a plurality of teeth 2.1 with a width B2 offset from each other in the direction of the longitudinal axis X2 by a gap L2 and oriented in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X2, where the two combs are directly or indirectly mechanically coupled to each other. A respective tooth of the one comb meshes with a respective gap of the other comb and thereby the tooth of the one comb closes the gap of the other comb in the direction of the longitudinal axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2013Publication date: March 13, 2014Applicant: JP-Features GmbHInventors: Christof Prinz, Frank Hans-Joachim Jungmann

Patent number: 8267098Abstract: A hair straightener device encompasses a straightening tool that is comb-like. The straightening tool has a row of tines that are spaced apart respectively to each other by one hair receptacle. Each tine is associated with at least one first molded part 7 that is movably mounted. It is movably supported relative to the additional tine that surrounds the hair receptacle. The straightening tool furthermore surrounds a second molded part which is associated with the additional tine that surrounds this hair receptacle. This serves the implementation of a hair shaping gap between the molded parts of a hair receptacle. The hair shaping gaps that are located between the molded parts are undercut at least in the hair shaping position of the molded parts toward one another in the direction toward the border, of the hair receptacle, that connects the tines.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: WIK Far East Ltd.Inventor: Dov Glucksman

Patent number: 8220100Abstract: A hairbrush 10 has rounded outer surfaces 23, 25 of hinged heads 22, 24 that, when the brush is closed, achieve a closed form that is generally round or spherical in cross-sectional shape. Another aspect of the present invention includes inner head surfaces 26, 28 that support bristles and that are complementarily shaped concave and convex, respectively, to hold a tuft of hair in a curved position as the tuft is pulled through the closed heads.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Conair CorporationInventor: Ronald Teddy Diamond

Patent number: 7089945Abstract: A telescoping comb for lice removal is provided for removing head lice and nits from a person's hair. The comb has a telescoping handle with serrated teeth and a pivoting handle. Resilient springs are utilized for holding the pivoting handle in an open position and holding a head portion of the telescoping handle in a closed position in the resting state. Pressure applied to the pivoting handle actuates the head portion to an open position, and upon subsequent release thereof, the head portion is spring biased back to the closed position. When the invention is used on one's hair, the teeth of the comb separate any lice from the hair where they can be safely removed.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Inventor: Stanley D. Barge

Patent number: 6026827Abstract: The hair clip includes two comb-shaped elements pivotably mounted in relation to each other and held in a brought-together state by an elastic member. Each comb-shaped element has teeth arranged on an end of the element. A first set of teeth has at least one opening in which a corresponding tooth from a second set of teeth engages when the cone-shaped elements are in a completely or a partially brought-together position to adequately clamp the hair.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1998Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: Societe Robert RevaisInventor: Gerard Revais

Patent number: 5964228Abstract: A hair holder includes two symmetric holder members made of flexible material. Each holder member includes a first portion for holding hair, a second portion for retaining hair, and a transition portion interconnecting the first portion and the second portion in an acute angle to thereby define a hair holding space therebetween. The first portion of each holder member includes a number of first slits spaced along a width thereof to thereby define a number of first teeth spaced along the width. The second portion of each holder member includes a number of second slits spaced along a width thereof to thereby define a number of second teeth spaced along the width. The width of each second tooth increases from a distal end of the second portion to the transition portion, thereby defining an engaging portion adjacent to the transition portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1999Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Inventor: Wen Hsiung Chang

Patent number: 5865188Abstract: A hair brush useful for temporarily straightening curly or wavy hair is provided having first and second brush heads hinged to one another at their handles. The first and second brush heads are biased away from one another so that the hair brush is normally in an open position. The hair brush is used by grasping the handles and squeezing the heads together to grip a portion of a person's hair. The brush is moved through the hair to hold the hair straight so that it can be blow dried.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1996Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: West Coast Hair Systems, LLCInventor: Diane J. Patent number: 5775343Abstract: A hair-styling device, for french braiding hair, including a first comb detachably secured to a second comb, with each comb vertically disposed in the hair. Each comb has an arcuate spine supporting horizontally extending teeth vertically spaced apart on the spine. The second comb abuts the bottom of the first comb and is disposed in a plane below and parallel to the first comb. The teeth of the second comb are aligned intermediate consecutive teeth on the first comb, and teeth on the first comb are similarly aligned intermediate consecutive teeth on the second comb. This arrangement of the comb teeth separate hair into predetermined sections of hair of uniform thicknesses that are vertically disposed and alternating from side-to-side on the head. The combs are inserted in the hair, a user interweaves the hair sections for braiding. A user then detaches the first comb from the second comb and removes the combs from the hair while retaining the hair braid design.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Inventor: Patricia Smith Zarn

Patent number: 5318051Abstract: A comb is formed from two half-comb sections laid one on top of the other. Each half of the comb includes every other tooth of the full comb, such that when the two halves are mated, the two sets of teeth will be interleaved to form a comb having narrow inter-tooth gaps. This allows each of the half-comb blanks to be directly stamped from a sheet material. Where it is desired to electrically insulate adjacent teeth from one another, a non-conductive separator is interposed between the two half-comb sections during assembly.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1992Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Sunbelt Precision Products, Inc.Inventor: Bernie Koppel

Patent number: 5174312Abstract: A headwear apparatus includes a butterfly chip comb assembly and an elongated, moisture absorbent headband. The comb assembly includes a pair of hingedly coupled combs with inwardly facing tines shiftable between open and closed positions and having a retainer for holding the combs in the closed position. The headband presents respective end regions having a plurality of transverse, tine receiving slots defined therein which allow adjustable length coupling of the end regions with the respective combs. In use, with the combs in the open position, the headband is placed about the user's head with a portion of the user's hair gathered between the combs; the combs are then shifted to the closed position which snugs the headband to hold it in place about the user's head and holds the user's hair in the gathered configuration.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: December 29, 1992Inventor: Joey M. Adams
