  • Patent number: 6035867
Abstract: Transparent plastic strips are dispensed one at a time for use in sampling cosmetics. Each strip has a facial feature outline, preferably lips, embossed, etched or printed on the strip for receiving colored cosmetic, preferably lip color, within the outline. The strips have extensions extending outward from the outline for grasping and holding the strips in front of the facial feature of the user, usually lips, to determine which cosmetic color or lip color, shade and gloss best suits the user's face and satisfies the user. The transparent plastic strips are disposable and are used to promote sales of cosmetics by encouraging sampling of multiple colors and shades. The transparent strips are disposable after use by a customer to provide sanitary conditions for the users and for the cosmetics available for sampling at a cosmetic counter. The transparent plastic strips may be blank. The plastic strip is then placed on a template that has a lip depiction.

  • Patent number: 5186190
Abstract: For the purpose of mobility a pair of wing shape stencils is connected by a nut and screw passing through the elongated slots which allows the stencils to move horizontally and vertically. This procedure allows the adjustment of horizontal distance and an angle of the eyebrow cut-outs simultaneously. When the two stencils are connected the V- shapes formed thereby, provide centering guides. The stencil may have one or more eyebrow cut-outs generally in the middle area with a additional eyebrow line at the upper edge and an eyeline shadow guide at the lower edge. The stencils are supported by stretchable head bands and clips which are secured around the head during the application.

  • Patent number: 5178170
Abstract: An eyelash shield device is provided having curvatures at each end of an elongated member. The invention also includes a process for using a makeup device to apply makeup to eyelash. The curved ends are applied above and below the eye, between the face and eyelashes of the user so as to protect the face from smudging eyelash makeup on the face or from disturbing pre-applied makeup to the user's face while applying mascara to the eyelashes. An alternative embodiment of the eyelash shield device has a clip for attaching the shield to a mascara case and includes first and second members pivotally connected to each other. The first functions as a shield between the user's face and eyelashes and has a curved edge conforming to the curvature of the periphery of the user's eye. The second member is pivotally attached to the first member and connected to a clip device for attachment to a mascara case.

  • Patent number: 5170808
Abstract: In acid perms, the moist hair while still wet from a shampoo is wound around curling rods and saturated with an acid perm solution. A band or strip of absorbent cotton is placed across the forehead below the hair line. The rim of a visor is mounted on the band and held in place by the lower end of a plastic bag tightened around the head and fastened in place. A preheated hair dryer is lowered over the bag and the heat from the dryer releases acid fumes which are held in contact with the hair until the perm is set. The band absorbs any seepage. The visor protects the eyes from acid fumes. Result: a better perm with no skin or eye irritation.

  • Patent number: 5135013
Abstract: A face shield for protecting a person's face from hair spray and the like has a sheet of thin flexible transparent material of planar generally quadrilateral shape which is of sufficient dimension to cover the face of a user and an elongate narrow rectangular support handle which is secured vertically to the sheet intermediate the side edges thereof and extends a distance above and below the bottom edge of the sheet. The handle is of sufficient rigidity to strengthen the sheet in a vertical plane to prevent it from bending about a horizontal axis. The sheet is sufficiently thin such that it may be selectively cut by a scissors or similar implement to substantially fit and provide adequate protection for various facial shapes and sizes and to provide a top edge to closely conform to the shape of the hair line of the user.

  • Patent number: 5052418
Abstract: A tattooing device for producing a temporary predetermined image on the human skin by the action of skin tanning rays comprises a template having a laminated structure which comprises a flexible first layer and a removable second layer. A central opening which is defined in the laminated structure of the template has an outline which corresponds to the image. A first surface of the first layer is provided with an adhesive with the second layer being removably mounted to this first surface. Upon removal of the second layer from the first layer, the latter is applied on the skin at a desired location. A sun block is then distributed on the skin within the central opening. Removal of the first layer from the skin leaves sun block thereon which corresponds to the desired image. Once the skin has been exposed to tanning rays, the sun block is washed away from the skin thereby revealing a skin tattoo.
