Abstract: An intravascular medical device is prepared for shipping by being sealed within a sterile volume of a package. Prior to closing the package, an intravenous liquid solution is pumped into and through the medical device to displace all air bubbles. The liquid is pumped at sterilization temperatures corresponding to when the liquid has a low viscosity, but the liquid is chosen to have a relatively high viscosity at room temperatures corresponding to when the package is opened for use. The liquid solution remains adsorbed to the interior surfaces of the medical device at room temperature against a force of gravity. The strategy reduces the risk of air embolism when a medical device is put into use.

Abstract: According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a process liquid supply apparatus operating method is provided. The method includes filling a filter unit with a process liquid from an upstream side of the filter unit to a downstream side of the filter unit after newly mounting or replacing the filter unit and repeating a depressurization filtering process and a pressurization filtering process for a predetermined number of times. The depressurization filtering process depressurizes the process liquid in the downstream side of the filter unit and thereby allows the process liquid to permeate through the filter unit. The pressurization filtering process pressurizes the process liquid from the upstream side of the filter unit and thereby allows the process liquid to permeate through the filter unit.

Abstract: A machine is presented for the cleaning of jewelry. The machine allows the manual or automatic cleaning of jewelry. Under both modes of operation, the jewelry is secured by a user to a support bracket inside a transparent, water-tight cylindrical wash chamber. When in manual mode, the user can direct the spray of wash fluid onto the jewelry by rotating the jewelry using a trackball. When used in automatic mode, the machine washes the jewelry during a preset washing cycle. For both modes, the washing cycle is followed by the drying cycle where a blower directs air onto the jewelry for a set time period to blow off excess moisture. The drying cycle concludes with a blower venting the cylindrical wash chamber to remove residual moisture from the wash chamber and the jewelry. After the cleaning, the user removes the jewelry from the machine.

Abstract: A system and method for cleaning components contaminated with radioactive materials uses dry ice blasting to remove the radioactive contaminant from the contaminated component in a chamber including a directed air flow. The removed contaminant is transported by the directed air flow for collection in a filter, which may be configured as a HEPA filter. During the cleaning process, the dry ice used for the blasting process sublimates into gaseous carbon dioxide such that no incremental contaminated cleaning media or residue is generated during decontamination of the component. Because the dry ice is non-corrosive, non-abrasive and environmentally neutral, damage to the component being cleaned and decontaminated is prevented or substantially avoided. Because dry ice sublimates on impact, cleaning of electrical components without compromising electrical function is enabled.
