Publication number: 20090188531Abstract: A device for clearing obstructions from a medical tube, such as a chest tube, is disclosed in various embodiments. The device features a shuttle member that is magnetically coupled to a guide wire within a guide tube, through the guide-tube wall, so that translation of the shuttle member induces a corresponding translation of the guide wire within the guide tube, without penetrating or compromising the guide-tube wall. In this manner, when the guide tube is coupled to a medical tube where obstructions have formed, the guide wire and clearance member may be inserted into and withdrawn from the medical tube, via actuation of the shuttle member, to engage and help clear such obstructions from the medical tube without compromising the sterile field. Methods of clearing a medical tube of obstructions are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2009Publication date: July 30, 2009Inventors: Edward M. Boyle, JR., Nathan J. Dale, Paul C. Publication number: 20040025911Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a semiconductor substrate has a chuck for rotatably supporting the semiconductor substrate, and a horizontally movable probe for applying ultrasonic vibrations uniformly to cleaning solution supplied onto an upper surface of the semiconductor substrate. The probe makes contact with the cleaning solution supplied and extends vertically from the upper surface of the substrate. The cross-sectional area of the probe gradually increases in a direction towards the semiconductor substrate so that the ultrasonic vibrations are widely distributed to the cleaning solution. The lower surface of the probe has surface features that act to disperse a reflected wavefront of the vibrational energy. Thus, patterns formed on the semiconductor substrate will not be damaged by the ultrasonic vibrations.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2003Publication date: February 12, 2004Inventors: In-Ju Yeo, Byoung-Moon Yoon, Yong-Sun Ko, Kyung-Hyun Kim, Chang-Lyong Song

Publication number: 20020170586Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for removing contaminants from the surface of a substrate includes two parts: one which produces an aerosol including frozen particles and directs the aerosol onto the surface of the substrate to remove contaminants from the surface by physical force, and another part in which a fluid including a gaseous reactant is directed onto the surface of the substrate while the surface is irradiated to cause a chemical reaction between the reactant and organic contaminants on the surface, to chemically removing the organic contaminants. In the method of cleaning the substrate, the physical and chemical cleaning processes are carried out in a separate manner from one another so that the frozen particles of the aerosol are not exposed to the effects of the light used in irradiating the surface of the substrate. Therefore, the effectiveness of the aerosol in cleaning the substrate is maximized.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2001Publication date: November 21, 2002Inventors: Moon-hee Lee, Kun-tack Lee, Woo-gwan Shim, Jong-ho Chung
