  • Patent number: 11419454
Abstract: A framed cover with one-way hinges is disclosed. A rigid tubular frame that is built into the cover's opening makes it possible to find the opening, lift the cover evenly, place the cover over the item, rotate the cover to the proper position and drop the cover in an even manner and without snagging. In addition, the tubular frame can be made to fold so that the cover can be stowed away for storage in a controlled manner, and by folding the tubular frame on a larger size cover it makes it easier for the user to control the covers weight because its center of gravity is held closer to the user's body until it is properly positioned and opened on top of the item to be covered.

Abstract: Portable lounge chair awning is a simple structure easily folded into a compact configuration for storage. The awning consists of dual elongated loops of flat spring steel covered by layers of fabric. The shape is oval. In use, the shape assumes a shaped dictated by the fabric's shape. The support and fabric assumes a generally saddle-shaped configuration. The major surfaces are adapted to reflect the sun's light and heat radiation. When open, the awning is placed over the back of a lounge chair and secured by ribbon-like ties to the side structure of a conventional lounge chair forming an awning to cover the occupant's head. The coilable frame allows the awning to be twisted and folded into a compact configuration consisting of a series of loops and fabric layers. The ribbon ties secure the compact configuration for storage.

Abstract: A shelter is formed by joining a resilient sleeping pad at its edges to a thin, flexible, waterproof, vapor-breathable shell. The sleeping pad, being the floor of the shelter, eliminates material otherwise used for this purpose. An opening in the shell for the user's face, is edged with a sleeve containing a drawstring for closing the opening to the extent desired. A zippered separation in the shell extends from the opening, to provide easy access into the shelter. A canopy, attached to the shelter, is supported above a user by long, resilient wands attached to the canopy material. Various embodiments are disclosed for combining a canopy with the basic shelter, for supporting the canopy above the user, and for providing entry into the resulting shelter.

  • Patent number: 6095172
Abstract: A sunshade assembly removably mounts to outdoor furniture, such as a lounge chair, and includes a canopy structure having first and second pivotally movable frame members, and a foldable material canopy fitted to and extending between the frame members. A tensioning bar removably secures to the respective frame members at opposite ends to maintain the frame members separated so that the canopy is pulled taut, thereby blocking the sun's rays and creating an area of shade. A telescoping support arm attaches to the furniture at one end and to the first frame member at an opposite end and is adjustable in length to selectively position and maintain the expanded canopy throughout a range of adjusted positions relative to the furniture, thereby controlling the location of the created area of shade. The canopy structure collapses behind the furniture upon removing the tensioning bar and releasing the lower end of the support arm from attachment with the furniture.
