Patent number: 6390112Abstract: A tent door is hinged (44) and spring assisted to close the door and hold the door in a closed position against a bug-stopping weather-strip (18) attached to the surface of a door stop along the inside perimeter of a door frame. After entering or exiting a tent, a latch (74) on the inside surface of a door is needed only for security reasons. A tent door/tent door frame unit can be permanently attached around a tent's wall opening allowing the unit to fold around and with a rolled up tent. Folding of the unit is permitted by the removal of rigidity poles (61) from backbone columns (30). Because of the ease of entering and exiting a tent and of the convenience of folding the tent door/tent door frame unit around a rolled up tent, use of a tent so equipped becomes a pleasure.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2001Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Inventor: Lyle J. Publication number: 20020050285Abstract: Collapsible structures are provided having at least one lower panel, each panel having a foldable frame member having a folded and an unfolded orientation, with a fabric material substantially covering the frame member to form the panel when the frame member is in the unfolded orientation. The fabric assumes the unfolded orientation of its frame member, and each panel further includes a first side, a second side, a bottom side and a top side. The first side of one panel is coupled to the second side of an adjacent panel. The collapsible structure according to the present invention further includes an upper panel having a bottom side coupled to the top side of one of the lower panels. In other embodiments, at least two upper panels are provided, with the upper panels provided above the lower panels. The respective panels can be coupled to each other using stitching and/or detachable connectors, or by crossing the frame members of the panels at adjacent left, right, top or bottom sides.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2000Publication date: May 2, 2002Applicant: RAYMOND SUNInventor: Yu Zheng

Patent number: 6328050Abstract: A self-expanding, foldable, portable structure for temporary shelter. The structure includes two opposing flexible side panels each having a continuous respective border thereabout and a continuous frame member fabricated of a foldable spring material for expanding and maintaining each side panel in a generally flat expanded configuration. Two opposing flexible end panels, a flexible roof panel, and preferably a floor panel are disposed between and connected to the side panels. A tension member is positionable between two opposing aligned sites of opposing frame members for maintaining under pressure the frame members in a spaced relationship from each other. A mat member having a frame fabricated of a foldable spring material can be provided for insertion to provide an inside floor surface between the opposing side panels while simultaneously tensionally distancing the side panels from each other to aid in stabilization of side panel positioning.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2000Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Inventor: Thomas E. Publication number: 20010035204Abstract: An orchard tent folding structure comprises two frame sets and a shelter member having a plurality of tubular members and a plastic cloth. The frame sets comprise a rod member which is provided with a power source to drive the rod member to turn, a sprocket wheel and a slide wheel linked with the sprocket wheel by a chain member. The sprocket wheel turns along with the rod member. The chain member is formed of a chain section and a steel cable section. The shelter member is fastened at one side with the chain section, and at other side with a first steel cable and a second steel cable of the frame sets.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2001Publication date: November 1, 2001Inventor: Zong-Tsan Lin

Patent number: 6213138Abstract: An improved tent frame apparatus comprising a rectangular tubular network having primarily four corner sections of tubular shape. Each of the corner pieces has a threaded hook and nut arrangement in connection with the corner in order to tightly stretch a tent flap that is connected to the hook and nut arrangement. In this manner, a tent flap having an eyelet may be connected to the hook and nut and then be tightly stretched in order to connect the tent to the frame structure by means of the tent flaps.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Inventor: Ronald Lee Wimpee

Patent number: 6151839Abstract: A cover for a vehicle has a base at ground level and a rigid cover member having a downwardly facing mouth and movable between a lowered position and a raised position. A support is connected to and extend upwardly from the base and are arranged to support the cover member in its raised position. A resilient device is provided for urging the cover member to its raised position. In the lowered position, the mouth of the cover lies at ground level and defines with the base an enclosed storage area. In the raised position, both ends of the cover are raised above the base and access is permitted to the storage area.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1998Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Inventor: Stanley Millward

Patent number: 6138701Abstract: Collapsible structures are provided having at least two panels, with each of the panels having a flexible loop member defining a closed loop and adapted to assume an expanded position and a collapsed position, a fabric for partially covering the loop member, with the loop member substantially supporting the fabric in particular areas so that the fabric assumes the particular configuration of the loop member when in the expanded position of the loop member. The loop members of two adjacent first and second panels overlap each other at a first overlapping point along first edges of the loop members, and at a second overlapping point along second edges of the loop members, with the overlapping loop members defining a hinge portion about which the two loop members of the first and second panels are pivotable. The structure may include a third loop member having one side which is hingedly connected to one side of the first panel.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1998Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Patent Category Corp.Inventor: Yu Zheng

Patent number: 6085767Abstract: A tent structure convertible from a hanging tent to a ground-based tent is herein described. The tent structure includes a top portion having slots, T-shaped connectors stitched into the base portion and resilient rods having ends arranged to be inserted into either the slots or the T-shaped members. For use as a hanging tent, the ends of the resilient rods are inserted into connectors on opposite sides of the tent such that the resilient rods extend across the base portion of the tent and the tent is then hung from support structure(s). As a result of this arrangement, the base of the tent is firmly supported by the resilient rods and the tent is supported above the ground. For use as a ground-based tent, the connectors are pivoted such that the connectors are adjacent to the sides of the tent and the resilient rods are inserted one end into a connector and a second end into a slot such that the resilient rods extend along the sides of the tent and support the top portion of the tent above the ground.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1998Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Inventor: Brent Maslow
