Abstract: A walking supporter that comprises one or more bottom frames including at least one curved element having a circular arc shape; and a support frame connected to the curved element of the bottom frame vertically. A user can stand up easily from a sitting position without exerting a force vertical to the ground because the walking supporter can be swung utilizing the bottom frame with a curved element. Furthermore, it is less likely that the walking supporter will get stuck even if there is a protrusion or a crevice on the ground because the bottom frame is formed of curved elements. The walking supporter is also appropriate for patients or the elderly who may not have enough arm-strength because it is possible to walk by pushing the walking supporter on the ground with a part of the bottom frame being in contact with the ground.

  • Patent number: 8573612
Abstract: A method of producing a natural gait by a patient using an ambulatory device having a patient positioned in the middle of the ambulatory device to allow for an upright trunk, minimizing abnormal lower extremities kinematics and weight bearing on arms. By having hinged corners with an adjustable friction the device allows reciprocal arm swing when unlocked. The use of four wheels permits a continuous stepping motion that does not disrupt normal gait kinematics. Having an adjustable height allows the ambulatory device to have an optimal height for placement of patient hands that minimizes weight bearing on arms.

Abstract: An adapter for use with a walker is disclosed. The adapter has a mesh that includes a running surface for engaging soft surfaces such as sand, dirt, and the like, into which conventional walker legs generally sink. A post on the adapter is configured to lockingly engage an end portion of one of the walker legs. Optionally, each adapter has two posts that are separated from each other by a distance that is substantially equal to a distance between end portions of two legs of a walker. In use, the adapter is positioned lateral to a user's feet, substantially outside of the space defined by a walker handrail, to avoid the user stepping on or tripping over the adapter.
