Manually Set To A Single Outflow Position Patents (Class 137/119.05)
  • Patent number: 10718103
Abstract: A shower valve assembly configured to divert water between a tub port and a shower port. The diverter valve assembly position or state is changed by pushing a button connected to a stem and a poppet valve. When the water supply is turned off, a poppet spring shifts the poppet valve to a tub open position, and a check valve spring opens a check valve, allowing water from the shower port to flow out of the tub port.

Abstract: A universal kinetic diverting spout post assembly for mounting in a vertical orientation in a roman tub or deck installation is provided. The assembly includes a valve body containing a replaceable diverting cartridge into which hot and cold water are fed. The cartridge also includes a spring biased plunger assembly normally closing the outlet to a second use, such as a spray, when water normally passes through the spout to a tub and until such time as a diverting mechanism, either in response to a predetermined pressure rise in the spout when water exiting the spout is prevented, or as a direct result of the user lifting the plunger assembly. In either alternative the plunger assembly rises off it's seat and as a result closes the water path to the spout and at the same time opens the normally closed outlet to the spray and allows water to pass to the outlet. The assembly also includes a flow regulator proximate the spray outlet to prevent overpressure in a supply hose and excessive water flow therein.

Abstract: A three-way valve is configured as a solenoid operated diverter when the solenoid is used in parallel with a poppet valve. When the diverter is in a first mode, hydraulic fluid entering a first port exits the valve through a system outlet port while hydraulic fluid entering a second port exits through a second port. The solenoid valve is positioned to close the second port when energized in order to shift the system to a second mode. When the solenoid valve is energized to close the second port so that all of the fluid entering the second port opens the poppet valve and exits through the system outlet. By utilizing a poppet valve in parallel with a solenoid valve rather than a valve spool, the three-way diverter is able to operate at higher pressures and higher fluid flow because Bernoulli effects which cause closing of valve spools used in prior art three-way valves do not adversely affect the poppet valve.
