  • Patent number: 8967183
Abstract: A drain line access device is provided for flushing HVACR drain lines. The device includes a main body having input and outlet connection ports on opposite ends for inline installation to a drain line, a flapper assembly sized and configured for seated placement in an interior cavity of the main body, and a removable top cover. The flapper assembly includes a flapper holder, a flapper, a flapper seat, and a spring hinge for rotatably urging the flapper into the normally raised position. An injection port is provided on the top cover for delivering a flow of pressurized gas or liquid for flushing out a clog in the drain line. In operation, delivery of pressurized gas or fluid into the drain line forces the flapper against the flapper seat, thereby sealing off one of the respective ends of the main body and directing the pressurized gas into the drain line.

  • Patent number: 8950425
Abstract: A combined fuel and purge air valve for a turbine engine has an onboard residual fuel reservoir to relieve pressure transients in the fuel circuit during purge air mode operation. The fuel reservoir also operates to effectively seal the fuel circuit with fuel present in the valve chamber by venting any purge air that should happen to leak past the primary seals. A 3-way spool valve controls the transition between start-up and sustained fuel operation modes as well as the purge air operation mode. A movable shuttle controls the communication of the fuel circuit with the fuel reservoir and ensures that the fuel reservoir is open in the purge air mode and closed off in the fuel modes. Pilot air activates the shuttle and spool valve and fuel pressure provides biasing forces. Fuel is distributed through an array of outlet ports, and the valve is cooled by an integral coolant jacket.

Abstract: An anti entrapment fail safe drain having a drain cover for partially covering an influent opening; a pressurized supply line; and a nozzle assembly in communication with the pressurized supply line and mounted within a drain sump. The nozzle assembly is for directing a pressurized liquid in a pattern over a surface of the drain cover when the drain cover and the nozzle are immersed in the liquid such that a portion of the liquid above the pattern or objects suspended in standing liquid can not be pulled directly toward the drain cover through a drain inlet opening. The drain also has an effluent opening for connecting to the drain sump arranged such that the liquid flows into a pipe in a first direction. The pressurized supply line is arranged inside the pipe for returning the liquid to the nozzle assembly in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: A fuel manifold for turbine engines, such as the large turbines used for generating electrical power, has a housing with straight internal porting for routing fuel and purge media streams to the combustion area of the turbine. A pressure balanced fuel valve regulates fuel using a poppet actuator. A piston section of the actuator dynamically seals off actuation pressure from the fuel. A valve section of the actuator dynamically seals off a vented area from the fuel and regulates fuel flow through the valve. The piston section has internal porting to a collector tube within the vented area for directing media leaked past the piston seal(s) to a vent port, and thereby prevent mixing of the fuel and actuation media.
