The receiver may be used with different aspects or all of the hose control system.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2004Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Assignee: Great Stuff, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey M. Publication number: 20080295894Abstract: A water powered hose reel operated by household water pressure. The hose reel has a traversing hydraulic motor for use in retrieval of a flexible hose. The hose reel includes a spool carried by and enclosed within an enclosure, the spool having a hub with a pair of flanges at opposing ends configured for proper alignment of the hose during storage, take-up and pay-out of the hose. The enclosure is configured for receiving the spool so as to rotate within the enclosure. A hydraulic motor allows take-up of the hose by use of a reciprocating traversing motor driving a rack attached to the spool by a series of gears. Disengagement of the motor allows for manual pay-out of the hose.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2008Publication date: December 4, 2008Inventors: Michael Uffner, Michael R. Vogler

Publication number: 20080223951Abstract: An apparatus includes a handheld element and a remote control. The handheld element has a proximal end, a distal end, and an internal flow conduit. The internal flow conduit extends between the proximal and distal ends. The internal flow conduit is configured to be in fluid communication with a hose. The remote control is integrated with the handheld element. The remote control is configured to transmit wireless data signals for controlling a device associated with the hose. The device may include a reel, a valve system, a valve unit, and/or a plurality of valves.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Applicant: Great Stuff, Inc.Inventors: James B.A. Tracey, James E. Patent number: 7389790Abstract: A reel assembly is provided with a hub and opposing flanges that may be disassembled into at least two primary components that may be at least partially nested with one another for compact storage and transport. A stepped or tapered axle is axially received by the hub from only one direction to promote ease of assembly. A mounting plate secures to one end of the axle for mounting the reel assembly to any generally planar surface. A braking system is provided that simply permits free rotational movement of the reel one direction and a drag brake in the opposite direction. A swivel cap of unitized design incorporates retention in the axial and linear directions simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2006Date of Patent: June 24, 2008Assignee: Eley Corp.Inventors: Craig Eley, Darin L. Patent number: 7377289Abstract: The present invention provides for a hose reel assembly structured for ease of use and maintenance. The hose reel assembly includes a folding crank handle, having an easily accessible and identifiable release, an easily released water system, and an autotrack device that is easily engaged/disengaged. By improving the ease of use of such components, the amount of wear and tear on the hose reel is reduced and the life of the hose reel is extended.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2006Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Ames True Temper, Inc.Inventors: Stephen T. Patent number: 7363679Abstract: A vacuum system has a cabinet that can be mounted to a wall. The cabinet includes a hose storage compartment with a hose drive assembly for automatically extending and retracting a vacuum hose. A portable vacuum unit can be removably docked to the cabinet and connected to the vacuum hose so that waste can be picked up the vacuum hose when the portable vacuum unit is docked. When undocked, the portable vacuum unit can be used alone.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2005Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: Whirlpool CorporationInventors: Johnny W. Zimmerle, Wyatt A. Patent number: 7334601Abstract: A vacuum pool cleaning system that is housed in the side of the swimming pool. The pool vacuum unreels itself and vacuums the pool when the central pool vacuum pump is turned on, and reels itself back into storage when the central pool vacuum pump is turned off. The vacuum hose is stored on a reel below the water line. The system is powered entirely by the vacuum from the pool vacuum pump.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Inventor: John E. Torkelson

Patent number: 7316368Abstract: The present invention relates to portable hose carts for handling and storage of flexible hoses, such as garden or air hoses. The cart is primarily constructed of plastic components having a centrally rotatable spool for winding of the flexible hose, an enclosure for supporting the spool, wheels at one end of the base of the enclosure, and a handle assembly for tilting the frame onto the wheels to facilitate moving the device. The handle assembly is telescoping mounted and includes a handle mounted near the top of the handle assembly. The spool is rotatable by either a direct current powered motor or a folding manual crank. Power from the electrical motor is transferred to the spool via an infinitely adjustable torque transfer assembly. When the cover is in the open position, the direct current motor is operationally locked out, and when the cover is rotated into the closed position, the direct current motor is operable.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2004Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Suncast CorporationInventors: Brian Moon, Lyle A. Patent number: 7121495Abstract: A generator is provided along a conduit that carries a man-made fluid flow. The generator generates electrical power that can be, e.g., used to charge a battery, rotate a reel, or to directly control a fluid flow control valve associated with the fluid flow. In the garden hose context, neither AC power nor frequent battery replacement is required because power from the generator can recharge the battery powering the valve and the reel.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2004Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Great Stuff, Inc.Inventor: Ramon A.
