Abstract: This invention relates to a valve position indicator for buried valves having a rotatably operated shaft extended to ground level. A sealed gear box unit non-rotatably mounted inside the valve position indicator has a transmission mechanism mounted about the operator shaft to effectively move an indicating device at a predetermined arc distance for every shaft revolution. Adjustable indicator plates are angularly disposed on the cover of the gear box unit to provide open and closed reference points for the indicating device. The plates are securable in a manner to permit application to valves requiring different number of turns to move the valves between their open and closed positions.
Abstract: A system for primarily supplying fishing boats lying berthed in harbor with electrical power, comprises a plurality of terminal boxes (1) which are countersunk along the edge of the quay and each contains electric power socket outlets (2), a drain hole (10) and a heating cable (19). The coverplate (5) of each box is self-closing, self-locking and lies on ground level, leaving in closed position an opening to the interior of the terminal box to permit passing therethrough a line (16) connectible to the electric power socket outlet and extending from an electrical connection box (18) which can be mounted on a boat (17) and has several electric power socket outlets and an electricity meter. In addition to electric power socket outlets, outlets for water, telephone service, compressed air, vacuum and/or fuel can be mounted in the boxes which can also be placed in airports and on camping sites.

Abstract: A prefabricated vehicle maintenance apparatus is disclosed, including a housing having bottom, side and end walls, which housing is adapted for insertion within a pit formed in the ground. A horizontal platform is arranged in the housing for supporting a mechanic beneath a vehicle arranged in straddling relation above the pit, the platform normally having effective width and length dimensions corresponding generally with the spacing distances between the housing side and end walls, respectively. The vehicle maintenance apparatus further includes a platform lifting device for vertically displacing the horizontal platform between upper and lower levels relative to the housing bottom wall, at least one of the effective width and length dimensions of the horizontal platform being variable to define an opening affording access to the portion of the housing bottom wall arranged beneath the platform.
Abstract: A sewage pumping or lift station is mounted on the upper edge of a standard concrete wet well. A vertical partition divides the station into a machinery chamber and an access chamber that are hermetically isolated from each other. The floor of the machinery chamber is imperforate except for a hole through which a sewage inlet pipe passes and that hole is sealed by weldments attaching the inlet pipe to the floor; this hermetically isolates the machinery chamber from the sewer gases in the wet well. Any other components which must communicate with the wet well pass through sealed holes in the vertical partition.
Abstract: In a sewer manhole construction having a cylindrical bottom section adapted for placement within the ground at a pre-determined depth and having bottom and side walls, there being spaced inlet and outlet openings in the side wall above the bottom wall adapted to receive the ends of sewer conduits. The improvement which comprises a flooring upon the bottom wall including a plurality of pre-formed filler channel elements of polygonal shape and of uniform height which are mounted upon and around the bottom wall adjacent the side wall. Adjacent inner walls and opposing walls of the filler channel elements define a first channel which underlies and interconnects the inlet and outlet openings. Each channel element has a plurality of upright apertures therethrough. A layer of concrete fills the apertures and interstices between the channel elements and between the channel elements and side wall partly fills the first channel and overlies the channel elements extending the floor above the channel elements.
Abstract: A multipiece prefabricated manhole assembly and method of making same. The manhole assembly is formed from a cured mixture of a polyester and fiberglass that may have the components thereof wholly or partially assembled in the field to rest on a manhole foundation to provide a manhole structure that is dimensionally stable and one that is substantially impervious to the corrosive action of sewage and gases emanating from the latter such as hydrogen sulphide, methane and the like.
Abstract: A refuelling unit for aircraft is moveable from a lower position completely hidden in a below-ground cavity to an operating position above ground. The unit has a sliding cover and means are provided for holding a vertically movable platform in intermediate position between the fully raised and lowered positions.
Abstract: A unit for connecting a stationary source of a fluid under pressure through a delivery apparatus vertically movable in respect thereto is disclosed. The system is especially suitable for supplying fuel under high pressure to an airplane refuelling hose.
Abstract: Chimney for joining a lower main sewer line having a vertical nipple to an upper branch sewer line, the chimney consisting of a pre-cast concrete bridge assembly straddling the main line and having a bore through which the nipple extends, the bridge being joined by intermediate sections to a Y-branch section having passages and openings for joining it to the branch line, there being a fluid-tight seal between the bore and the nipple to permit relative movement therebetween without leakage.
Abstract: A manhole-pit lining is formed of a base, a tubular middle portion, and a top to which a manhole cover is fittable. The base is custom-made in accordance with the particular requirements of the pit being lined. The middle tube provided with pipe connections is then fitted over this base with the pipe connections aligned with the trough formed in the base and is secured thereto by means of an epoxy resin. The middle and base are then placed in an excavation and the pipe connections on the middle are hooked up to the pipes to be joined at the manhole pit. The cover is secured to the top and the excavation is then backfilled. The entire assembly is made of waterproof reinforced concrete and the middle tube itself may be constituted as a standard waterproof pipe section.
Abstract: A sewage system having a central drywell pump room surrounded by a circular-segment well system comprising first and second wet wells and a third or overflow retention well.
Abstract: An integral passageway is formed in a manhole construction to establish communication between an upper inlet to the manhole and a bottom outlet. Precast sections having such a passageway formed therein may be employed to build a desired height of the manhole, an upper one of the sections having an inlet for connection to a service line and the precast sections being stacked such that the upright passageways therein are in vertical alignment.
Abstract: An underground station is provided with an access cover assembly including a frame extending about an access opening and a cover hingedly attached to said frame. A support member is attached to said frame and extends about the periphery of the access opening. Attaching members are slidably mounted to said support member so that they may be positioned to any desired location about the periphery of the access opening. Fastening means are provided for fixing said attaching members at desired locations about the support member and for fastening station accessories to the attaching member so that the accessories may be mounted in preferred locations in a particular station.
