  • Patent number: 12351218
Abstract: A system, method and assembly for detecting the operational status of one or more discharge gates on one or more railcars. The system and method monitor parameters that include whether the discharge gate is open or closed, whether the railcar is in motion or not, and whether the railcar is in a location where it is acceptable for the discharge gate to be open. Sensors carry out the monitoring, and the information obtained by monitoring the parameters are used to determine if a notification event has taken place and if so, a notification of such event can be transmitted to a remote receiver. A change in the status of any one of the monitored parameters can trigger the determination of whether a notification event has occurred.

Abstract: Device(s) and techniques determine if a gas regulator supplying gas at a regulated pressure to a gas meter (e.g., the gas meter of a house or business) within a gas distribution system has one or more lock-up failure events or venting events, wherein gas is vented to the atmosphere. In an example, a sensor obtains information indicating a relative position of a stop stem of a gas regulator and a diaphragm pin of the gas regulator. As pressure increases within the regulator, the diaphragm pin moves toward and/or touches the stop stem. The gas pressure increase may result from debris in the regulator that prevents a valve from fully closing. A signal may be sent from the regulator and/or associated gas meter. • Patent number: 11534754
Abstract: A method for producing a cavity in a substrate composed of hard brittle material is provided. A laser beam of an ultrashort pulse laser is directed a side surface of the substrate and is concentrated by a focusing optical unit to form an elongated focus in the substrate. Incident energy of the laser beam produces a filament-shaped flaw in a volume of the substrate. The filament-shaped flaw extends into the volume to a predetermined depth and does not pass through the substrate. To produce the filament-shaped flaw, the ultrashort pulse laser radiates in a pulse or a pulse packet having at least two successive laser pulses. After at least two filament-shaped flaws are introduced, the substrate is exposed to an etching medium which removes material of the substrate and widens the at least two filament-shaped flaws to form filaments. At least two filaments are connected to form a cavity.

Abstract: A position transfer device is configured for use on a control valve. These configurations may convert a linear position of a closure member on the control valve to an angular position of magnets. A sensor in proximity to the magnets can generate a signal in response to the angular position. A valve positioner or controller can process the signal to identify the position of the closure member relative to a seat. In one implementation, the position transfer device includes a shaft that clamps onto a pin. This arrangement causes the pin to translate radially about an axis that is perpendicular to the shaft. • Patent number: 11437769
Abstract: Apparatus and method provide a solenoid coil having a field-replaceable status indicator light, such as an LED. The status indicator light lights up when power is supplied to the solenoid coil to indicate the coil is energized and turns off when the coil is no longer energized. This allows technicians and other personnel working in hazardous environments to easily and reliably monitor the operational status of the solenoid coil. An electrical splitter adapter splits power between the solenoid coil and the status indicator light. The splitter adapter allows the status indicator light to be removed without interrupting power to the solenoid coil. Where the power is AC power, a rectifier may be provided on the splitter adapter to convert the AC power to DC power.
