Fluid Pressure Responsive Indicator, Recorder Or Alarm Patents (Class 137/557)
  • Patent number: 11971328
Abstract: Described herein are systems, devices, and methods for detecting leaks or blockages of liquids or gases in a transporting network. In various embodiments, either a flow or a pressure detector is attached to the network, changes are sensed over time, and data about flow or pressure is sent to and from a controller. In alternative embodiments, static and dynamic states are identified to discover relatively small leaks or blockages, sometimes by emptying the network in whole or in part. In some embodiments, aggregate measurement data is processed to identify usage and performance features particular to the transporting network, which allows a continuous improvement in the measurement of leaks and flow direction. In some embodiments, one detector can measure changes in multiple paths of the transporting network. In some embodiments, corrective action is taken automatically, while in other embodiments human operators order corrective action.

Abstract: A mixed fluid separator apparatus includes an overload protection chamber that prevents a large and sudden influx of oil from fouling a coalescing separator. To prevent sudden influx of a large concentration of oil from overwhelming the coalescing separator, a separate overload protection chamber is connected to a main coalescing separator apparatus. The overload protection chamber includes a water drain (majority water with some oil) to the main coalescing separator apparatus and an oil overflow (majority oil with some water) to drain excess oil when necessary to prevent overfilling of the coalescing separator apparatus. The overload protection chamber functions to rapidly separate and remove heavy concentrations of oil, protecting the main coalescing separator apparatus.

Abstract: A protective device includes a pipe in a pipe system for transmission of a flow of a fluid from an upstream end of the pipe system to a downstream end of the pipe system. The device includes a pipe insert, disposed within the pipe system between the upstream and downstream ends. The pipe insert has a cylindrical body. A valve is within the pipe insert and is moveable between open and closed positions. The open position opens the pipe insert, enabling transmission of the flow of the fluid, and the closed position occludes the pipe insert, disabling transmission of the flow of the fluid. A sensor is within the pipe insert for disposition within the flow of the fluid to detect a target compound in the pipe insert. The valve moves from the open position to the closed position when the sensor detects the target compound.

A conveying flow of the pumping system is measured, and a pump starting from a starting conveying capacity independent of the control of the temperature-control volume flow is driven such that a conveying capacity of the pumping system is reduced to a reduced conveying capacity. Then, a check is made to find whether the conveying flow remains substantially constant and, if this is the case, the reduced conveying capacity is determined to be the target conveying capacity. If this is not the case despite the control of the temperature-control volume flow, the starting conveying capacity is determined to be the target conveying capacity.

  • Patent number: 10673690
Abstract: Connectivity loss on a storage network may be reliably determined. For one or more host ports connected to a storage system, the frequency with which status communications are received from the host port may be determined. Status communications from a host port then may be monitored to determine if a predefined number of status communications within a predefined period of time have not been received. If so, it may be determined whether a change in storage system permissions concerning use of ports potentially caused the one or more status communications to not be received. If not, it may be determined whether one or more communications associated with a change in configuration of a switch have been received, in which case a predefined amount of time may be allowed to pass to allow the switch change communications to complete; after which status communications from the host port may again be monitored.

  • Patent number: 10626585
Abstract: The Sewer Back-flow Preventer Monitor is a device designed to be an add-on to a sewer back-flow preventer valve, otherwise known as a backwater valve. It offers a higher level of protection against flood than that which is offered by a sewer backwater valve without any such device. It uses digital and/or analog electrical sensors, magnetically linked to the flapper, to determine the precise flapper position of a backwater valve and will warn a user of a municipal sewer backup and or back-flow. As well, it will provide an alert when a cleaning is necessary and informs users when a sewer backwater valve has successfully closed during an event. It is a cost effective solution.

  • Patent number: 10502455
Abstract: A system to reduce standby losses in a hot water heater is presented. The system utilizes a dual safety relay valve between the combination gas controller and the burner. The dual safety relay valve bypasses gas to a rotary damper actuator valve to position a damper flapper valve located over/inside the flue pipe. Once the flapper valve has opened to ensure combustion, the gas is allowed to flow back to the dual safety relay valve. Some of the bypass gas may be diverted to boost the pilot or to supply a booster. The dual safety relay valve is then opened to allow the gas supply to the burner. Once the burner is turned off, bypass gas bleeds out of the rotary damper actuator valve to close the damper flapper valve to reduce standby losses through the flue pipe, and to allow the dual safety relay valve to close tightly.

  • Patent number: 10443880
Abstract: The present invention allows for a combination valve in a hydronic HVAC system that functions as an isolation valve; a check valve; and as a device for measuring fluid parameters, such as flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature, and also allows for the isolation valve to be configured in the field to be mounted either in a straight 180° or an angled 90° orientation, as well as at an intermediate angle. The new combination of isolation valve, check valve, with embedded sensors for flow rate, pressure, and/or temperature measurement provides a more compact product envelope that achieves space savings, e.g., by eliminating the need for separate components in an HVAC system, such as separate isolation valves, check valves, flow meters, pressure gages, and/or thermometers.
