Flow Passage With Bypass Patents (Class 137/599.11)
  • Patent number: 7275367
Abstract: There is provided an exhaust pressure-adjusting valve that is brought into a closed position due to a biasing force of a resilient body and is opened against the biasing force of the resilient body due to the exhaust pressure in an exhaust channel, which is raised in response to the closing of a throttle valve, in which valve-opening area is increased or decreased according to the displacement of the resilient body, to thereby adjust the exhaust pressure. The exhaust pressure-adjusting valve has a unit for changing the growth rate of the valve-opening area, which gradually heightens the growth rate of the valve-opening area with respect to the displacement of the resilient body in a valve-opening direction.

  • Patent number: 7178545
Abstract: A control system for a bypass duct includes a pneumatic damper control assembly, a sensor and a pneumatic switch. The damper control assembly includes a damper vane mountable in the bypass duct for movement between relative open and closed positions to regulate airflow through the bypass duct. The position of the damper vane is controllable via pressure applied through a damper control line. The sensor is mountable to the supply duct to transmit a pneumatic supply duct signal via a supply line based on at least one of air pressure or air velocity in the supply duct. Finally, the pneumatic switch opens or closes the connection between the damper control line and the supply line based on the difference between (1) the pneumatic supply duct signal via the supply line, and (2) the combination of the pneumatic pressure from the damper assembly and a switch biasing pressure.

  • Patent number: 7121293
Abstract: A tri valve backflow preventer having parts and materials preferably consisting of steel nuts and bolts, ductile iron operating nuts, nitrile rubber O-rings, nitrile rubber gaskets, manganese bronze valve adjusting stems, valve wedge gates made of ductile iron encapsulated with EPDM rubber, and ductile iron valve bodies. Material and parts are constructed in accordance with ASTM standards and the requirements of the AWWAC-509 and AWWAC-504 for gate valves and butterfly valves. The tri valve backflow preventer is used with a temporary conventional backflow assembly between existing water main pipe and new/upgraded sections of water main pipe while they are under construction. It is left in place when the temporary backflow assembly is removed. Its use saves extra inspection hours, extra man hours, extra equipment hours, conserves large amounts of good water otherwise needed for flushing, and reduces the safety risk to the public during activation of new water lines.

  • Patent number: 6986361
Abstract: An electrically-actuated flow controller for compressed air systems is disclosed. The flow controller includes a control panel, a transducer for sampling downstream air pressure, an electrical actuator with an electric motor, and a valve driven by the motor. The flow controller also optionally includes a bypass assembly and battery backup system. The transducer measures downstream pressure, and an electrical actuator incrementally positions the valve to maintain set point pressure between the flow controller and the point of use. By using an electrical actuator rather than the traditional pneumatic actuator, the present invention avoids the contamination and response time problems that have plagued earlier flow controllers.

  • Patent number: 6976500
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve combination which is characterized in that the valve combination has a passive valve and an active valve. The active valve is provided with means for an active influence of the control position of a closing element and regulates the fluid flow at a high pressure. The passive valve controls the fluid flow at low pressure. The passive valve and the active valve are integrated into the cooling system pump circuit such that the pressure difference between the high and low fluid pressure and the control positions of the active valve determine the control position of the passive valve.

  • Patent number: 6907898
Abstract: A fluid shutoff apparatus utilizes a float [121] of a float chamber [115] connected to a float-operated valve [113] to provide positive shutoff of fluid to a downstream load upon excessive flow from the fluid outlet [109] of the apparatus. The float-operated valve is shut when fluid discharge from the apparatus is greater than the flow rate from a flow-limiting valve [103] connected to a fluid inlet [107], decreasing the fluid level in the float chamber. The volume of the float chamber prevents inadvertent shutoff of fluid due to normal perturbations in flow to the load.

  • Patent number: 6874534
Abstract: A fluid pressure regulator assembly includes a body having a first passageway extending from a first port to a second port, and a second passageway extending from a third port to a fourth port. A pressure regulator is coupled between the second and third ports for controlling the pressure of fluid flowing from the second port to the third port. The regulator assembly further includes a bypass valve and the body includes a housing for the bypass valve. A third passageway extends from the first passageway to the housing, and a fourth passageway extends from the housing to the second passageway. The bypass valve controls flow from the first passageway through the third passageway and the fourth passageway to the second passageway in response to a bypass control signal coupled to the bypass valve.

  • Patent number: 6871666
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for a bi-directional dual chamber orifice fitting comprising a body with a chamber in fluid communication with a flow bore. The fitting also comprises an orifice supported by an orifice plate carrier that is selectably disposable in the bore. In the preferred embodiment, the lower chamber includes two passageways connecting the chamber to the flow bore. One passageway is located on either side of the orifice plate. Each passageway may also be equipped with a check valve to permit flow in only one direction through the passageway. In operation, the passageway on the upstream side of the orifice would allow fluid to flow into the lower chamber while the passageway on the downstream side would prevent flow back into the flow bore.

  • Patent number: 6591851
Abstract: During the pumping of corrosive gases, it is advantageous to admit a seal gas to endangered pumping chambers at a lower flow rate and a higher pressure than the corrosive gases. Inert gas from a supply (3) has its pressure reduced by a pressure reducer (6). An on/off valve (7) controls a flow of the inert gas through a flow restriction (8) which restricts the flow of inert gas to appropriate sealing gas rates at an outlet (4). After pumping the corrosive gas, a control valve (12) in a bypass line (11) causes the inert gas to be supplied to the outlet (4) at a higher flow rate for purging the pump.
