Abstract: When the common part of the outer pipe and the inner pipe is worked with the pressing-type punching-out work for connecting with the inner pipe, there occurs no possibility that any disadvantage caused by the punched-out debris is generated. An inner pipe is arranged at the inside of an outer pipe. Each part of the outer pipe and the inner pipe is partially made common and integrally formed to each other. The inner pipe has the side walls extending from a common part of the outer pipe and the inner pipe to the diametral direction of the outer pipe in parallel and the recess wall facing the common part of the outer pipe and the inner pipe at a deep end of the side walls is not expanded more than the space between the side walls.

Abstract: During the manufacturing of heat-insulated pipes (1) with an inner duct (3) and an outer duct (2) and a foamed insulation (14) arranged in between, the inner duct is placed on a tension member (10). The latter is tensioned between tensioning means by means of a tensile force, such that it runs straight and that the inner duct is held straight. The latter is held on centering elements (16, 17) which are spaced from one another in a defined way by means of spacers (18). In this straight position the inner duct may be surrounded with foam inside of the outer duct, without needing spacers between the ducts.

Abstract: An apparatus for axially transferring fluid may comprise an elongated shaft defining a first fluid passageway axially therethrough and a second fluid passageway from an outer surface thereof to the first fluid passageway. An elongated tube member defines an outer surface that is received within the first fluid passageway and a third fluid passageway axially therethrough. A plurality of axial channels are defined between the tube member and the first fluid passageway or along the tube member separately from the third fluid passageway. At least one of the plurality of axial channels define a first opening near one end thereof that receives fluid from a source of fluid and a second opening axially spaced apart from the first opening and that aligns with the second fluid passageway such that fluid may be transferred by the at least one fluid passageway from the source of fluid through the second fluid passageway.

Abstract: A relatively warm mineral deposit is solution mined by injecting fluid through a well drilled into the deposit and dissolving the mineral to form a production brine. Warm production brine is cooled at the surface using a heat exchanger as a crystallizer to precipitate the mineral in the exchanger and form a slurry. Crystals of the mineral in the slurry are recovered in a separation plant leaving a relatively cool, dilute or depleted brine, which is conveyed through the heat exchanger for cooling the production brine and then injected into the mineral deposit to dissolve more mineral thereby providing a continuous process. A pipe-in-pipe heat exchanger is preferably used and in a manner so that the heat exchanger also serves as a primary means for conveying the production fluid and/or slurry from the well to the separation plant.

Abstract: A structural component system for containing a hot fluid, e.g., petroleum product, and methods to dissipate heat build-up in the structural component is disclosed. In one embodiment, the structural component is a composite pipe for carrying a hot fluid, e.g., petroleum products. The system comprises a protective sheath disposed around the structural component and forms an air space between the structural component and the sheath. The sheath has at least two gaps on its surface, with the gaps being sufficiently spaced apart to allow air flowing through the air space from one gap to another to dissipate heat build-up from the hot fluid contained within the structural component. In one embodiment, an intumescent material is applied near the gaps, which material expands when heated to a temperature in a fire to effectively close the gaps and protect the structural component from the fire.
