Patent number: 9022076Abstract: A self-actuated linearly retractable and extendible hose for use in transporting fluids (liquids, gases, solid particles, and combinations of these) between a source location and an output location can be implemented as an extendible hose comprising a biasing element, a sealing layer, and a reinforced cover layer. The sealing layer forms a sealed conduit for transporting the fluids, and the reinforced cover layer on the outside provides radial and longitudinal strength for the sealing layer. The hose can be operated by increasing internal pressure within the hose relative to ambient pressure. When the hose is pressurized by a fluid source, the internal pressure of the hose overcomes the retracting force of the biasing element and the hose extends. When the fluid source is turned off or disconnected from the hose, internal pressure is reduced and the biasing element exerts a tension force on the hose causing the hose to retract.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2014Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Assignee: Ragner Technology CorporationInventors: Gary Dean Ragner, Robert Daniel deRochemont, Jr.

Patent number: 8789562Abstract: Provided is a flexible tube which is used to load fluid from a floating facility on the sea onto a tanker, which is suitable for transport of cryogenic fluid such as LNG, and which is capable of quickly and reliably detecting leakage of the fluid in the tube. Also provided is a structure for detecting leakage of fluid in a tube. A water impermeable and heat insulating layer is provided on the outer periphery of a heat insulating layer. The water impermeable and heat insulating layer, together with the heat insulating layer, thermally insulates LNG flowing through a corrugated tube from the outside of a flexible tube. Unlike the heat insulating layer, the water impermeable and heat insulating layer is poor in liquid permeability, and fluid such as LNG hardly permeates the water impermeable and heat insulating layer. That is, the water impermeable and heat insulating layer serves as a water impermeable layer between the inside and outside of the water impermeable and heat insulating layer.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2009Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignees: Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National CorporationInventor: Toru Kagoura

Patent number: 8783299Abstract: A twin-wall pipe comprises an internal pipe and an external pipe. The external pipe is corrugated, having elevations and troughs. The twin-wall pipe is further provided with a socket. In a transition portion towards the twin-wall pipe and the socket, provision is made for at least one overflow passage which interconnects the clearance between the external pipe and internal pipe in the vicinity of the transition portion and an adjacent elevation. a?b refers to the radial height b of the overflow passage relative to its width a in the circumferential direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2008Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Inventor: Ralph Peter Hegler

Publication number: 20140196929Abstract: A passage restricting member is attached to a corrugated tube. This corrugated tube includes a corrugated tube, a passage maintenance member, and an attachment member. The passage maintenance member is die-molded so as to maintain a shape in which at least a portion is curved in the longitudinal direction, and the transverse cross-section is arc shaped. The passage maintenance member has an opening penetrating to the internal peripheral side and the external peripheral side. The attachment member has an internal peripheral engaging part engaging with an internal peripheral portion of a slit in the corrugated tube, an external peripheral engaging part engaging with an external peripheral portion of the opening in the passage maintenance member, and a connecting part for connecting the internal peripheral engaging part and the external peripheral engaging part while disposed in the slit and the opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2012Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: SUMITOMO WIRING SYSTEMS, LTD.Inventor: Takashi Okuhara

Patent number: 8770230Abstract: A tubular component with an end section has a profile, wherein the profile comprises a plurality of holding elements axially offset in longitudinal direction of the end section. The holding elements comprise at least one first azimuthal contour region and at least one second azimuthal contour region, wherein the outer contour of a holding element in the first contour region at least in sections is lowered or raised relative to the second contour region and wherein the first contour regions of at least two holding elements are offset relative to each other in azimuthal direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2010Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Viega GmbH & Co. Patent number: 8770232Abstract: The invention provides a method for manufacturing a climate control duct, the method capable of improving a characteristic of transferring a shape of a protrusion onto a surface of a duct and capable of preventing reduction in ventilation efficiency. In order to manufacture a climate control duct having a protrusion formed on an outer peripheral surface thereof, the method includes subjecting an extruded foamed resin to blow molding by use of a duct-shaped mold in which a groove for transfer of a shape of the protrusion is formed on at least part of a surface thereof. Herein, the following relations are satisfied: 0.5 mm<D<5 mm, D<W<4×D, and W<2×T, in which W represents a width of the groove, D represents a depth of the groove, and T represents a thickness of the foamed resin.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2010Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Kyoraku Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masaaki Onodera, Yoshitaka Matsubara, Naoto Tani, Kazuo Waki

Patent number: 8752591Abstract: The flexible hose of the present invention is crush resistant, burst resistant, and virtually impossible to kink in normal use and is applicable to hoses that are designed for delivering virtually any kind of fluid including water, organic liquids, aqueous based herbicides, aqueous based insecticides, industrial chemicals, beverages, air, industrial gases, vacuum, and the like. The hose design of the present invention is particularly applicable to garden hoses for the delivery of water. In fact, garden hoses having the construction of the present invention are highly resistant to kinking and almost never kink when being used in conventional lawn, garden, and cleaning applications.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2011Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: Veyance Technologies, IncInventors: Anthony Montalvo, Robert H. Publication number: 20140150889Abstract: An extendible and collapsible pressure hose system can be created which comprises a collapsible pressure hose with a hose output connector mounted on one end and a fluid control system mounted on the other. In such a system, the collapsible pressure hose can, but need not comprise a coiled support wire, a convoluted hose body and/or an outer reinforcement cover. A fluid control system can comprise an input connector attached to hose, input connector housing, a main valve, and a pump. In such a fluid control system, the main valve can direct fluid within hose in three modes: 1) an open mode, where fluid pressure extends hose for use, 2) a retract mode, where the pump is used to pump fluid out of the hose, and 3) a closed mode, where no fluid can flow and in which the hose can be stowed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2013Publication date: June 5, 2014Inventor: Gary Dean Ragner
