  • Patent number: 6779563
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for lining a high pressure pipe with a tube made from interlocking, high-tensile high performance fibers, with a plastic coating applied thereto, whereby the high performance fibers are arranged in an interwoven structure and introduced into the pipe in a state of mobility relative to each other. The introduced meshing is then pressed against the inner wall of the pipe by altering the geometrical arrangement of the high performance fibers with relation to each other and then fixed by the mutual arrangement of the high performance fibers adopted after the laying thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040159359
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing a junction where a branch line joins a header having a packer. The packer has an inflatable packer sleeve for the header and an inflatable side sleeve for the branch line that protrudes from said header in the inflated state. A tunnel passes from an end of the packer through an interior space to a collar, in which a feed line for introducing sealing material runs to the junction at the collar. In a deflated state, the side sleeve is inverted in the interior space of the packer sleeve. When the packer is placed, the packer sleeve to which compressed air is admitted comes to rest against the inside wall of the header and, subsequently, the side sleeve moves into the branch line by inversion.

  • Patent number: 6775894
Abstract: An apparatus for sealing perforations, holes, cracks or the like in a tube or pipe and particularly in an oil well casing. The apparatus including a delivery tool for delivery of a coiled patch composed of spring-like material to the location of a damaged portion within a pipe. The patch consisting of a flat sheet of spring-like material where the length and width of the patch are comparatively large with respect to the thickness of the patch. The delivery tool comprising a hydraulicly activated plunger assembly and barrel. Prior to use, the patch is wound into the form of a coiled cylinder by means of a rolling tool and is loaded into the barrel of the delivery tool. To deploy the patch, hydraulic pressure is applied to the plunger assembly causing the plunger to move downwardly within the barrel and push the patch out of the barrel. Upon deployment, the patch unwinds within the pipe or tube and seals the damaged area against the infiltration or exfiltration of fluids or gasses.

Abstract: In lining work in which a lining pipe R formed by spirally winding a strip-like member 500 consisting of an elongated sheet-form body is left in place inside a tubular culvert P, and a new lining pipe is additionally formed in front of this lining pipe that has been left in place, a lining apparatus S which has a flexible forming frame 1 consisting of link bodies is used. The strip-like member 500 is wound around the forming frame 1 by means of a joining mechanism part 7 attached to the forming frame 1, and a lining pipe R is formed while being forcibly folded inward utilizing the flexibility of the forming frame 1; at the same time, a back-filling material is injected into the inward-folded part. The inward-folded part later returns to its original state. Alternatively, the diameter of a small-diameter lining pipe R formed by winding around the forming frame 201 or 401 is expanded, and lining is performed with the back-filling material injected during this diameter expansion process.

  • Patent number: 6679293
Abstract: A process for lining an existing pipeline or conduit with a flexible resin impregnated cured in place liner by pulling in the liner and inflating an eversion bladder with air and curing the liner with flow-through steam without loss of pressure is provided. The bladder is stored in a pressure bladder canister coupled to a pressurized downtube and eversion elbow. The bladder is everted by introducing pressurized air into the canister As the bladder reaches the distal manhole, it enters a receiving canister where it is punctured while maintaining air pressure within the bladder a pinch valve between the downtube and elbow isolates the inverted bladder so that steam can be introduced into the bladder to cure the resin and exhaust through the receiving canister. The bladder is then removed and lateral service reinstated.

The second flexible fabric layer further is bonded to a third flexible fabric layer comprising a substantially fluid impermeable layer. An invertible glass-faced liner is also provided by this invention which includes a glass facing on one side and a substantially fluid impermeable layer on the other. The substantially fluid impermeable layer is joined to a flexible fabric layer which is preferably heat bonded to a thin veil joined to a second glass containing layer of this liner embodiment. The inversion liners of this invention can be built-up in multiple layers or blocks to meet end-use design demands while still providing flexural moduli in excess of 500 ksi, preferably about 700-800 ksi.

Abstract: This invention provides stretch-resistant liners for lining pipes, pipes lined with stretch-resistant liners, and methods for lining pipes with stretch-resistant liners. The liners are made from a layer of stretch-resistant woven material, which may be a scrim, sandwiched between two layers of non-woven resin-impregnated material to form a laminate structure which is rolled into a tube to provide a liner having concentric sleeves.

  • Patent number: 6652690
Abstract: A “chemical heater” in the form of a cartridge containing an exothermic agent such as sodium hydroxide (caustic) soda, or the like, which, when infused into water, releases heat in the form of an exothermic reaction. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, a cartridge is provided which contains the exothermic material. Water or the like is then directed through said cartridge so that the exothermic material dissolves, providing a solution of water infused with the exothermic material. The solution is heated by virtue of the exothermic reaction, said solution passing out of the cartridge and into a bladder located in a pipe, filling same. Situated about the bladder is a patch or sleeve of material including heat cured resin, which is urged to line the pipe by virtue of the bladder inflating, while simultaneously heated to cure same by virtue of the heated solution.
