  • Patent number: 10988329
Abstract: Vehicle restraints for use at loading docks are described herein. In some embodiments, a vehicle restraint includes a vertically-moving carriage that is operably coupled to a guide track by means of one or more sliding members instead of, or in conjunction with, rollers. The sliding members can have relatively large contact surfaces configured to react the majority of vehicle pull loads applied to the vehicle restraint in use. Because of the relatively large contact surfaces, the pull loads are spread out over a relatively large area of the guide track, thereby reducing the likelihood for the loads to deform or otherwise damage the guide track.

The connecting ramp sections connect the outer ramp sections to opposing vertical sides of the middle ramp section so that the outer ramp sections are substantially parallel and laterally spaced apart with the middle ramp section. The arches of the outer ramp sections arch in a same direction of the arch of the middle ramp section and arch in the opposite direction of the middle ramp section. When collapsing the ramp, the direction of the arched sections line up, allowing for a compact assembly that may be easily carried and stored. The method of extending and collapsing the ramp allows for a ramp that is rapidly and efficiently assembled.

  • Patent number: 9085258
Abstract: Described is a loading ramp for loading a small vehicle into the bed of a truck, for being carried by the truck, and for optimizing storage space provided by the truck. The loading ramp is adapted to be mounted to a truck and is capable of an up position and a down position. When at the down position, the loading ramp defines a gradient between a ground surface and the bed of the truck. The gradient supports a small vehicle, such as an ATV, to the extent that the small vehicle is loaded into the bed of the truck by traversing the gradient. When at the up position, the loading ramp is carried by the truck such that the loading ramp does not limit the storage space provided by the truck and, in particular embodiments, makes available storage space provided by the truck that would otherwise be occupied.

Abstract: A vessel with bridging means includes an upright column, a gangway, a first hinge connection for hingedly connecting the gangway to the column, coupling means at or near a free end of the gangway for coupling the gangway to an offshore construction, and one or more gangway support organs. The column is supported by and connected to the vessel by means of a second hinge connection designed to allow the vessel to rotate relative to the column in a first rotation direction around an x-axis and in a second rotation direction around an y-axis, wherein the x- and y-axes extend substantially horizontal and orthogonal relative to each other. Positioning means are provided which comprise force actuators between the vessel and the column for swivelling the column around the second hinge connection relative to the vessel around said x- and y-axis.
